11 things we wish we could do over
It's hard to take back just one thing about the Red Sox' epic collapse -- can you really send back fast-food fried chicken? -- but a good place to start would be the team's dismal 7-20 record in September. During that time the Red Sox went from contending for the AL East to fighting for their playoff lives, and they lost that battle with a 4-3 loss to the Orioles on Sept. 28. The juxtaposition of Jonathan Papelbon (back) blowing the lead for Boston while the Rays staged a comeback in Tampa provided some of the most exciting hours of baseball in the sport's history, but it certainly wasn't much fun for Red Sox fans.
