Adalius ThomasPerhaps no free agent came to New England with higher expectations than Adalius Thomas. And maybe no one was a bigger disappointment than Thomas. The highest-priced free agent acquisition in team history, Thomas signed a five-year deal for $35 million in March 2007. In his first season, Thomas recorded a respectable 6.5 sacks with two interceptions. But by 2009, the relationship between the disgruntled Thomas and Patriots coach Bill Belichick was a mess because Thomas was unhappy with his role and was critical of the team at times. Thomas was one of several Patriots players benched by Belichick for missing practice during a snowy day in Foxborough in 2009. Thomas was let go in April 2010 after playing in 39 regular-season games for the Patriots, with 35 starts, totaling 148 tackles and 14.5 sacks.
