Boston's best individual performances of 2011

Red Sox spin three, Aug. 17While this one was a three-man effort, we include it because it would have all fallen apart and been just another grounder without each player's solid individual effort. The Red Sox pulled off a 5-4-3 triple play in the fourth inning of a game vs. the Rays when Sean Rodriguez hit a sharp grounder right at Red Sox third baseman Jed Lowrie, who stepped on the bag to force B.J. Upton and fired to second to force Casey Kotchman. Second baseman Dustin Pedroia made a quick pivot and got the ball to a stretched-out Adrian Gonzalez at first to get Rodriguez.
It was the Red Sox' first triple play in 17 years.
