Bernie Carbo
When: 1975, Red Sox vs. Reds
The career .264 hitter had played for the Reds and Cubs before joining the Red Sox in 1974. In Game 6 of the 1975 World Series, with two outs in the eighth inning, Carbo stepped to the plate to pinch-hit against Cincinnati Reds pitcher Rawly Eastwick. With two strikes, Carbo cranked a three-run home run to tie the game 6-6, leading to Carlton Fisk's extra-inning walk-off home run in the 12th inning. In 2010, he was part of Globe reporter Stan Grossfeld's
"One-Hit Wonders" series and he admitted he was high on drugs when he hit the homer.
