Yaz departed before finale

''I think he had to leave the ballpark,'' said Kevin Shea, Red Sox director of communications and baseball information. ''I don't know what transpired, but I believe he had to leave. ''I know he really wanted to be here, and that's why he was here. He was more than happy to speak and to participate.'' Yastrzemski was joined by former Red Sox broadcaster Ned Martin as he spoke about succeeding Williams in left field. His major league career began in 1961, one season after Williams retired.
