I saw him play. I watched him fish. Everything he did he did with passion and perfection. I have his home address sitting on my desk. I was going to send him a get well note but never did. Boy, am I ever going to miss this guy. Go Sox, win it for The Kid!

John Macchi, Coral Springs, Florida

Today we lost not just the greatest hitter of all time, but one of the pillars on which Red Sox Baseball stands. Without Ted, the Yawkeys, Dom, Yaz and all of our cherished heroes, summer in New England would not be the same. We'll miss ya, Ted.

Brad Mackey, Cary, North Carolina

Thanks Ted

One of the beautiful things about baseball is that Ted Williams will live forever. He is the best of the best -- a man with a great gift that shared it with everyone, as much an artist in his chosen medium as Shakespeare or da Vinci. Rest in peace.

I hope you hit as well in heaven as you did in real life. Oh and tell Babe to get rid of the curse!

Joe, Hartford

I'll always remember seeing Ted in his final appearance at Yankee Stadium when I was a kid!!! He was always one of my baseball idols and sure enough. he hit a homer that day and received a big hand from the dreaded Yankee fans!!!!

i first heard about ted williams one weekend when i was picking up relatives at logan. someone said, 'let's take the ted home', and i was like, what's the ted? and my aunt told me that he was a great basketball player, and my uncle said, he played for the red sox, you dumb broad, and i thought wow, he must have been a great football player to have a tunnel named after him. anyway, i'm real sad now, but i guess since the pats won this year he must be happy - he was a great coach and all.

Today is a very sad day in New England WE have lost the greatest hitter to ever play the sport of Baseball. A true legend in his own right a superb fly fisherman, a true war hero in WWII. I am only 35 and never had the chance to see Ted Williams play, but My grandpa tells me some amazing stories that are so wonderful to hear. Ted god bless you and rest in peace! A true Ted Williams fan always and forever! Neal
