MESSAGE BOARD
Ted Williams, 1918-2002

The family of Ted Williams is feuding over what should be done with the slugger's remains. His son wants to deep-freeze Williams's corpse for future revival or cloning. But according to his daughter, the Red Sox Hall of Famer wanted to be cremated. What do you think?

This is not a proper subject for internet polls. Let's vote on favorite movies, ice cream flavors, vacation destinations, etc., etc., but there are some topics that are too personal and should be left to the families to hammer out. Let's show some discretion. Not everything should be turned into an audience-participation event.

Mike C, Canton

They should follow his wishes. If he wanted to be cremated and have his ashes scattered without a lot of fan fare then that is what should be done. I think his son is being selfish and just trying to get his free 15 minutes of fame.

Carol, East Boston

Hey, Red Seat, What is "real" about Florida? Is it the endless strip malls? the high use of Aqua Net? the leather-skinned hags? the fact that half of it is populated by ex-North Easterners? John Henry is a freak. He shouldn't be playing for the Sox Org because he's not a baseball player.

MJ, Boston

John: the son is a nut I have no love for him its to bad that he never had to go out and work,Ted williams should be put to rest he was a great Aerican.

I THINK A RED SOX FAN OUGHT TO CUT TED'S SON'S BALLS OFF AND FREEZE THEM FOR FUTURE EXPERIMENTS.

John M, QUINCY MA

Our youth of today have new and great ideas. If a discovery should be made, Teddy may be back and, boy, would he ever be thankful. The only alternatives are to be eaten up by worms, or burned up in a furnace. Being frozen sounds like a much better fate. My only hope is that John Henry can continue to pay the freezer costs until the wonderful scientists of this country come up with the new process.

Jonny Kaneb, Chelsea

I do know a lot about Alcor in Scottsdale, AZ, I can tell you that it would be very unlikely they would freeze Ted without his prior, before death wish, in contract form. Also, the idea that his son will try to sell Ted's DNA would be something I believe that Alcor would not do. Finally I believe the press is ill infirmed about this whole matter!

Kevin Spoering, Buffalo MO

He should be cremated and his ashes spread over left field of Fenway park.

Thomas DiGianvittorio, Sr., Norwood, MA 02062

If one more person says Freeze John Henry...we get it! Hey if they clone him just think in 20 years the starting line up for the Sox could be: 1B Ted Williams 2B Ted Williams SS Ted Williams (etc)

Paul, Boston
