In just its third year as a varsity program, the Duxbury girls volleyball team is a league champion.
The No. 9 Green Dragons (16-0) beat No. 8 North Quincy, 3-1, at home on Thursday afternoon to clinch the Patriot League title.
“It’s fantastic,” said Duxbury coach Pam Thomas. “This is a really big accomplishment for the girls.”
Duxbury won, 25-22, 25-16, 18-25, 25-12.
Junior libero Samantha Chaisson led the Dragons with 18 digs. Junior outside hitter Mackenzie Bright had nine kills and four aces while Molly Quilty added six blocks and four kills.
The Red Raiders (14-2) stole the third set to avoid the sweep.
But the Dragons returned to form in Game 4, serving strong and gaining the size advantage at the net to secure the win.
