Margolius, A-B strike gold
In a game rife with stars and story lines, the Division 1 girls' EMass soccer final appeared to have little chance of living up to its hype. But Acton-Boxboro's Marie Margolius showed a flair for the dramatic, scoring with less than a minute remaining in overtime to lift the nationally No. 1-ranked Colonials over Whitman-Hanson, 1-0.

Colonials stay perfect
Acton-Boxboro kept its undefeated streak alive last night with a 1-0 victory over Walpole in the Division 1 state field hockey semifinals.
Volleyball
Medfield remains perfect
Undefeated Medfield swept rival Melrose last night to move into the Division 2 state volleyball championship for the fourth time in five years. The Warriors (24-0) prevailed, 26-24, 25-16, 25-12, at Newton South High School, handing the Red Raiders (22-2) just their second loss of the season.

Duxbury football team feels a growing confidence
Two weeks into the season, the Duxbury High football team was winless and feeling sore. All three senior captains, halfback Bobby Murphy , receiver/defensive back Matt Savard, and two-way end Pat McWilliams sat out the second game of the season with injuries, a 14-0 loss to Plymouth North. The Phillips Exeter Academy running back was unstoppable in Saturday's 129th meeting of the longest continuing prep school rivalry in the nation played at rain-swept Phelps Stadium with the Big Blue still holding the overall lead in the series, 68-51-10.
