IT'S NOT A STANLEY CUP OR A HEISMAN, and its appearance has never changed. But every senior, every coach, dreams of ending their high school career holding one. An MIAA trophy says you crossed the finish line a winner. Certainly Bill Pettingell and Ryan O'Connor would agree. This spring, baseball players in Newburyport and lacrosse players in Westwood did just that, and there were many other winners. Here, The Globe and Boston.com toasts those athletes who survived spring fever to become All-Scholastics.

Boys' lacrosse
Grant Whiteway set a state record in scoring this year, surpassing his own mark from last season with 182 points on 116 goals and 66 assists. He finishes his career with 539 points and will take his talents to UMass-Amherst next season. More
Girls' Lacrosse
Record-setting Brooke Rudden, an attack, holds teh school record for most career goals (252), career points (392) and single-season assists (63) for Hopkinton. She talalied 104 goals this season and led the team to the Division 2 state championship. More
Boys' track
Somerset's Kyle Quinn dominated the spring, winning the Al-State meet with a throw of 209 feet 11 inches. Quinn, who holds the state record with a throw of 217-11, also won the Division 3 state championship for the second straight year with a throw of 207-9. More
Girls' track
Andrea Keklak (right) is an 11-time All-Scholastic, Keklak won the All-State championship in the 800-meter run, and also anchored the championship 4x800 squad. The Princeton-bound runner also won the Division 1 title with a meet record of 2:08.78. More
Boys' tennis
Needham's Mo Lipman paired with Matthew Bejian to win the Division 1 South doubles championship. Lipman, who is also a varsity basketball player, didn't drop a set in individual or team play all season. More
Girls' tennis
Alana Prinos, the South sectional individual champion, lost in the state individual finals. The two-time Hockomock League MVP is ranked 15th by the USTA at 18-and-under. Prinos lifted Foxborough to the Division 2 South semifinals and a 21-1 record. More
Volleyball
Haverhil's Brett Pettis was the Merrimack Valley Player of the Year and the backbone of the Hillies through the state finals, burying 58 aces on the way. Even when opponents adjusted their defenses to guard the outside hitter, Pettis still shined. More
