Players of the Year
Andrea Posa, Weston

Posa had an impressive senior season, leading the Dual County League in scoring as the Wildcats earned a share of the league title. In her career, Posa helped Weston win or share three DCL titles, win three North sectional titles, and two Eastern Mass titles. The Wildcats lost the state title to Notre Dame of Worcester in her junior and senior seasons. An honor roll student, Posa won a gold medal for field hockey at the 2003 Bay State Games, competed in the AAU Junior Olympics and the National Futures Tournament in 2002, and is captain of the Weston softball team. She plans to attend Brown University. |

Rachel Wilkes, Dedham

Wilkes had a phenomenal senior season. She led the state in scoring with 43 goals and 21 assists for 64 points, was selected the Bay State League's Most Valuable Player, and recorded a goal in Dedham's 3-1 victory in the Division 2 state title game over Smith Academy. Wilkes received numerous accolades off the field during her career, including a University of Rochester Humanities and Social Sciences award and a Tufts University Medical Center Rising Star award. She is also a three-time league all-star in ice hockey and is on the softball team. She finished her field hockey career with 87 goals and 53 assists. |
Coaches of the Year
Jane Norton, Falmouth

Norton, the five-time Old Colony coach of the year, adds a Globe Coach of the Year award to her resume after guiding the Clippers through adversity to a 14-10-0 record. Falmouth opened the season 5-0-3 before realizing it was using an ineligible player. The penalty was an 0-8 record to start the 2003 campaign. Norton guided the Clippers to a 14-2-0 record after the near-devastating blow, and Falmouth won the South sectional title before falling to Weston in the Eastern Mass championship game. Norton, a graduate of Bourne High School in 1980 and Salem State College in 1985, has a 10-year record of 137-40-26. She earned 12 varsity letters in high school and played field hockey for Salem State. |

Dianne Freiermuth, North Andover

Freiermuth led the Knights to a 19-2-2 record and the Cape Ann League championship this season, her 11th at North Andover. The Newburyport High School and Merrimack College graduate then guided her squad to the Eastern Mass championship game, where the Knights fell to eventual state champion Dedham, 4-0. Freiermuth, who played field hockey at Newburyport, has a career record of 92-61-62 and has won the Cape Ann League Coach of the Year award. She describes this year's team as dedicated and talented. |
The All-Scholastics
Kara Brady, Nauset

Brady was an Atlantic Coast League all-star her final two seasons at Nauset, finishing this season with 10 goals and 10 assists. A four-year starter for the Warriors, Brady finished her career with 25 goals and 22 assists, and was captain in her senior year. Brady also competed in the Bay State Games, the Cape Cod Classics Tournament, and the National Field Hockey Festival in Palm Springs, California. She also lettered in softball and enjoys snowboarding. An honor roll student, Brady is considering the University of Maine and Hofstra. |

Whitney Bushee, Duxbury

Bushee captained the Green Dragons this season and led the Patriot League in scoring with 25 goals and 10 assists. Her output on the field jumped dramatically from her junior year, when she recorded nine goals and six assists. She finished her career as the second leading scorer in school history. Bushee has played varsity lacrosse since her freshman year and played lacrosse in the Bay State Games. She also skis and plays violin. A National Honor Society member and an honor roll student, she plans on majoring in communications in college and has applied to Quinnipiac, Salve Regina, and St. Michael's. |

Danielle Collins, Walpole

Collins led the Rebels to a 19-2-1 record and the South sectional finals this season, scoring 13 goals and 16 assists along the way. She is a two-time Bay State League all-star and was rookie of the year on Walpole's 2001 squad, which went 24-0 on its way to the Division 1 state title. She captained the Rebels this season and was named a first team league all-star. Collins also won several league and state titles on Walpole's basketball and softball teams. She competed in field hockey in the Bay State Games, winning a gold medal in 2002, and for the Boston Monarchs AAU team from 1997-2002. Collins is undecided on a college. |

Jen Kinchla, Falmouth

Kinchla led the Division 1 South champions in scoring this season with 16 goals and 16 assists. She was named coMVP of the Old Colony League, led the OCL in scoring, and was named to the league all-star team for the second time. She was selected for the U19 Team Cape Cod for the national field hockey festival in Palm Springs, Calif. Last summer she competed for Team Cape Cod in the Bay State Games and at the Cape Cod Classic, which her squad won. Kinchla is an honor roll student, tutors at the Falmouth High School Learning Center, coaches youth field hockey, and teaches French to third graders. |

Kristina Levis, Andover

Levis was a key contributor to the Andover squad this year, which went 14-1-3 as it captured the Merrimack Valley Conference title. One of the Golden Warriors captains, Levis recorded four goals and 12 assists this year while earning All-Conference honors. Andover's record earned it the top seed in the Division 1 North playoffs, but Levis and her teammates fell to Wakefield, 1-0, in the quarterfinals. Levis, an honor roll student, does volunteer work in her spare time, and also enjoys dance. She hopes to play field hockey at Dickinson, Bentley, or Bryant next fall. |

Erin MacDonald, Dedham

MacDonald's play fueled Dedham's state title run this season. The two-time Bay State League all-star allowed just six goals during the regular season and one goal in the postseason as the Marauders went 23-0-1. She made eight saves in the Division 2 state championship game against Smith Academy, a 3-1 win. MacDonald is a tricaptain, starting for three years on the basketball and softball teams in addition to field hockey. She officiates softball and basketball games in her spare time, and also coaches a youth softball team. She hopes to play field hockey at Assumption, Merrimack, or Worcester State. |

Elizabeth Perreault, Falmouth

Perreault has earned three Old Colony League all-star nods in her three years on the team (she was an honorable mention her freshman year). She recorded three goals and 10 assists this season on Falmouth's run to the Eastern Mass title game, where the Clippers were defeated by Weston. Perreault won this year's Cape Cod Classic as a member of Team Cape Cod, has competed in the Bay State Games the last two years, and competed at the National Futures Tournament in Virginia Beach. Perreault volunteers for Students Against Drunk Driving and the Falmouth Road Race, and is an AP/Honors student. |

Nicole Phelan, North Andover

Phelan captained the Scarlet Knights to a 19-2-2 record this season and was a key contributor to their playoff run, recording an assist on the only goal in a 1-0 upset of then-defending champion Watertown in the Division 2 North final. North Andover lost to Dedham in the Eastern Mass championship game. Phelan was named a Cape Ann All-Star and All-League selection this season, and was named the league's Player of the Year. She also competed in the Bay State Games in 2003, winning the Sportsmanship Award, and the Cape Cod Tournament, where she was named an all-tournament player. |

Alexandra Quinn, Watertown

Another in the long line of Watertown All-Scholastics, Quinn scored 39 goals and recorded 15 assists for the Middlesex League champions this year. A tricaptain, she was selected to the league all-star team and named league MVP. A high honor roll student, Quinn is also a captain of the ice hockey and track teams, competing in the long jump and the triple jump. She has competed in field hockey at the Bay State Games, playing for the gold-medal team this year, the Junior Olympics in 2002 and 2003, and with the Cape Ann Coalition. She enjoys playing the piano. |

Cristina Sergi, Weston

Sergi was a first team Dual County League All-Star this season, as she was last season, for the Division 1 state runner-up. Weston lost to Notre Dame of Worcester for the second consecutive year in the state championship game. She recorded a key assist in the Eastern Mass title game against Falmouth, when teammate Meghan McCurdy tipped home Sergi's free hit for the winner in overtime. Sergi, a center back, is an honor roll student and a Dual County League all-star on the lacrosse team. She lists theatre as one of her outside interests and plans to attend Bentley College in the fall. |

Pam Spuehler, Lincoln-Sudbury

Spuehler cracked the century mark for points with her nine goals and 15 assists this season. She finished her career at L-S with 42 goals and 58 assists, leading the team in assists three times. She was a team cocaptain and a first team Dual County League All-Star this year. Spuchler competed in the USFHA National Futures tournament and has received the Team Above Self award twice at L-S. She stars on the ice hockey team, where she is the school's leader in career points by a defenseman with 26 goals and 46 assists. She led the lacrosse team in scoring her junior year with 45 goals and 25 assists. Spuehler will play field hockey for Boston University. |

Jayne Vagenas, Harwich

Vagenas, a South Shore League all-star, was a key contributor to Harwich's undefeated record and league title run. Her career ended in the memorable Division 2 South playoff matchup with fellow unbeaten Dedham, which the Marauders won, 1-0, in double overtime. Vagenas won four straight league titles with the Rough Riders. She is also a league all-star for the basketball team, winning an Eastern Mass title in 2002-2003. Vagenas, a high honors student, also competes in the Harwich indoor field hockey league, the Bay State Games for basketball, and in AAU basketball. |

Meghan Wheeler, Canton

Wheeler led the Hockomock League in scoring with 11 goals and seven assists and earned the league's MVP award. The two-time league all-star is also an honor roll student and lacrosse player. She competed in field hockey at the Junior Olympics this year and in the Bay State Games in 2002 and 2003. She played in the Cape Cod Classic in 2003 and she is a member of the Cape Ann Coalition. Wheeler, who will be looking to push Canton into the playoffs in her senior season, hopes to move on to play field hockey at a Division 1 college in 2005. |

Jillian Wilkes, Dedham

Wilkes finished her career in style, as a cocaptain and Bay State League All-Star for the Division 2 state champions. She recorded 10 goals and 24 assists in the 2003 campaign, including a goal and an assist in a 3-1 win over Smith Academy in the state final. She has 28 goals and 54 assists in her four-year career. She is a three-time league all-star in field hockey and ice hockey, won two Division 2 state titles with the ice hockey team, and was an honorable mention for league all-star in softball. Wilkes has been a captain of the Dedham ice hockey team for three seasons. She is undecided on her college plans. |

Katie Younes, Triton

Younes captained Triton this season and was named team MVP, recording a remarkable 364 saves and an .890 save percentage. She was a three-time Cape Ann League All-Star and All-League selection, a three-time team MVP, and the league's Player of the Year in 2002. The two-time Globe All-Scholastic is a National Honor Society member, a class officer, and has been recognized by Who's Who in American High School students. Younes also plays basketball and softball. She is a two-time all-star selection, all-league selection, and team MVP in softball, and was recruited to play softball for C.W. Post next fall. |
