Tacy Zysk, Walpole

The senior captain and forward was not only one of Walpole's top scorers this season, with 28 goals and 20 assists, but she was also the third leading scorer in Massachusetts. Zysk was one reason Walpole finished the year unbeaten and with the Division 1 state title, their 10th state field hockey championship. For her excellence this season, she was named a Best of 60 All-Star and a Bay State League first team All-Star for the second consecutive season. She was named MVP of this summer's Cape Cod Classic, and she played on the bronze medal team at the 2005 Junior Olympics. Zysk is a member of the National Honor Society, and she also participates in winter track and lacrosse. She will be attending Brown University. | |
Catherine O'Brien, Canton

O'Brien has come up big for Canton since she started on the varsity team as a freshman in 2004. That year, she helped Canton clinch the Division 2 state championship. This season, the junior scored the winning goal in the Division 2 Eastern Massachusetts final against Watertown. Canton went on to win the state title, beating Quaboag in the final, 2-1. She was named the Hockomock League MVP, an impressive honor usually reserved for seniors. Outside of school, she has participated in the National Field Hockey Festival with her club team, Lead the Way. The honor roll student plays basketball and track and enjoys music and participating in the Spanish Club. After the 2007 season, O'Brien hopes to continue playing field hockey at a Division 1 college. | |

Marianne Murphy, Walpole

Murphy describes her Division 1 championship team as, ''dedicated, disciplined, unselfish and proud to be Porkers, all members of a great tradition.'' Murphy should be proud, as well. During her five years as Walpole's head coach, she has accumulated a 102-7-6 record, as well as two state championships in the last three years. This season, the Porkers were undefeated (23-0-1) and won the Bay State Conference championship. Murphy, a graduate of Walpole, played field hockey, basketball, and tennis at Bentley College (Class of '80). In her spare time, she enjoys golf, tennis, swimming, and jogging. She acknowledged the efforts of Walpole's staff, administrators, parents, and other members of the community for making the field hockey season memorable. | |
Brooke Bergmann, Canton

Bergmann feels fortunate to be the coach of Canton's team, and her athletes are fortunate to have her. During her two years as head coach, the Canton team has lost only four games, going 34-4-4 overall. This season Canton was undefeated (21-0-2) and won the Hockomock League championship, Eastern Massachusetts championship, and finally, the Division 2 state title with a win over Quaboag. ''We had a great group of girls this year - excellent field hockey players and a lot of fun to be around,'' said Bergmann. Two of her players are on this page, Catherine O'Brien and Arielle Spadea. A graduate of Pennsbury High School in Pennsylvania, where she played field hockey, basketball, and soccer, Bergmann went on to play field hockey at Villanova University ('02). | |

The senior has been a Dual County League All-Star for three years. She finished the season with 18 goals and nine assists, which helped lead A-B to the Division 1 North finals. She plays on various club teams, including Mass Elite, Futures, and the Cape Ann Coalition. Blough is also an accomplished lacrosse player. She's been named to the Dual County League All-Star team twice and was selected to play on the Lower New England National Team. She enjoys snowboarding and skiing and is a member of the National Honor Society. She is still deciding her college plans. | |
Liz Day, North Andover

The 5-foot-4-inch senior dominated the Cape Ann League this season. She's been a league All-Star for three seasons and all-league selection for two seasons. She was also named Cape Ann League Player of the Year. She helped lead the North Andover team to the Cape Ann title and the Division 1 North title. In addition to field hockey, Day plays softball and basketball for North Andover. She has played in the Bay State Games for two years and for the Cape Ann Coalition team for one year. When she's not busy with school sports, she likes to go snowboarding and surfing. She hopes to attend UMass-Amherst or UMass-Lowell next year. | |
Meg Dow, West Bridgewater

Although she's a junior, Dow has been playing varsity field hockey for five years. She started on varsity as a seventh-grader, and since then has played in four Eastern Athletic Conference championships. She had nine goals and four assists this season and was selected as an Eastern Athletic Conference All-Star for the second time. Dow also plays on West Bridgewater's basketball and softball teams, and both won Mayflower League titles in 2006. When she's not playing one of the three sports, she likes going to the beach and shopping. She would like to continue playing field hockey in college. | |
Lauren Gonsalves, Harwich

The junior already has 93 career goals and was the second leading scorer in the state this season with 43 goals and 11 assists. With one more high school season left, her accomplishments will be difficult to top. For the past three seasons, she has been named a South Shore League All-Star and one of the top 10 scorers in Massachusetts. She was an All-Cape All-Star in 2004 and 2005. She is also busy in the winter and spring, playing point guard for the varsity basketball team and shortstop for the varsity softball team. She will be captain of the basketball team this winter. The honor roll student enjoys running and swimming. | |
Nicole Henrique, Joseph Case

The captain of Joseph Case's team and the three-time most valuable player led her squad with 16 goals and 15 assists this season. Her career totals of 45 goals and 30 assists sets the school record in scoring. She is also a three-time all-conference All-Star. She played for the Coastal team in the Bay State Games in 2006. The 4-foot-10-inch senior plays on the club team, Lead the Way, and in the spring, she'll be out on the softball field. Next year she's undecided on a college, but intends to play field hockey and major in child care development. | |
Katie Kelly, Dedham

Kelly has been a key player for Dedham for the past four years, and she has left her mark in school history. The senior captain scored 47 goals this season, a single-season school record. She finishes her career with 91 goals and 53 assists. She was named MVP of the Bay State League Herget Division this season, and she was named a Bay State Conference All-Star for the third time. Kelly is also an accomplished basketball player, president of the National Honor Society and ranked 14th in her class. She is undecided on her college plans but hopes to play Division 1 field hockey. | |
Alicia Lew, Brookline

Lew has been Brookline's varsity goalie for three seasons, and she's only missed one start. She blocked 92 percent of her opponents' shots this season, and she ends her Brookline career with a 1.7 goals-against average. She was the Bay State League Most Valuable Player this season, and she has earned league all-star honors for two seasons. Her club team, the Cape Ann Red squad, won the silver medal at last month's US Field Hockey National Tournament. The honor roll student also plays ice hockey and is a member of the National Honor Society. Next year she will be playing field hockey at Bowdoin College. | |
Sammy Macy, Tewksbury

Macy was selected as Merrimack Valley's Most Valuable Player this season, after scoring 30 goals and adding eight assists. Tewksbury went 18-1-2, losing to Watertown in the Division 2 North final. The senior finishes her Tewksbury career with 74 goals. She has been named to the Merrimack Valley All-Star and All-League teams for two years. She was also named to the Merrimack Valley All-Star team for softball last spring. The honor roll student plays for the Cape Ann Coalition club team, and would like to play field hockey in college. She played for Metro in the Bay State Games. | |
Kimberly McGinness, Watertown

Watertown's cocaptain led the team to its fourth Middlesex League title in four years and the Division 2 North championship, its second in four years. The 5-foot-1-inch senior had an excellent season, which earned her a number of postseason honors, including Middlesex League All-Star (for the second time) and co-MVP of the Middlesex League. She was also selected to the Best of 60 team. In addition to her school team, McGinness plays for the Cape Ann Coalition club team. The National Honor Society member also plays softball and likes to dance. She is undecided on her college plans. | |
Haley Neeven, Sandwich

The Atlantic Coast League All-Star had four goals and 12 assists this season, and she was selected for the Massachusetts Best of 60 team. Neeven also captained her team, which won the Atlantic Coast League championship. Neeven is also competitive in the classroom, as she is ranked second in her class and a member of the National Honor Society. During the school year, she participates in lacrosse, dance and theater, and she also plays field hockey on a summer league team. She is undecided on which school she will be attending next year. | |
Heather Quadir, Medfield

Three is Quadir's lucky number, as she scored three hat tricks this season. She also scored 20 goals and had 18 assists, which helped Medfield win the Tri-Valley League championship. The senior captain was named the Tri-Valley League's Most Valuable Player for 2006, and she was a Tri-Valley League All-Star. This winter, she will be playing point guard for Medfield's varsity basketball team and serving as the team's captain. The honor roll student also plays softball and is a member of the Medfield High Community Teens Club and the Chess Club. | |
Keelin Quinn, Walpole

Quinn scored the lone goal in the Division 1 state championship game that earned Walpole its 10th state title. It was a great ending to her high school career, and she was named a Bay State League All-Star for the second consecutive season. She was also picked to captain the Best of 60 team. Outside of school, she is competitive on her club team, Lead the Way. Quinn is also the captain of Walpole's softball team, and she was a Bay State League All-Star in softball last season. She likes to play bocce ball and hopes to continue her athletic pursuits in college. | |
Jessica Lyn Roberts, East Bridgewater

The senior has led East Bridgewater in scoring for four years, and she finishes her high school career with 101 goals and 48 assists. She helped her team to a Patriot League championship in 2005 and a South Shore League championship this season. She was selected as a South Shore League All-Star for the fourth time this season and named to the Best of 60. In April, she will be playing for the US Under-19 team in Argentina. Roberts is also the leading scoring on her softball team and is ranked ninth in her class. She will be playing field hockey for Boston College in the fall. | |

The junior still has one more season to complete any accomplishments she did not earn this season. She led the Hockomock League in scoring with 27 goals and 16 assists, helping Canton win the South sectional and Eastern Massachusetts championships. She was also named a Hockomock League All-Star for the second consecutive season. She was on the gold-medal Southeast team in the Bay State Games and played for the Cape Ann Coalition club at the national hockey festival. Last season, she was a Hockomock League All-Star in ice hockey and she also plays varsity softball. She hopes to play field hockey or ice hockey in college. | |
Tori Whitcher, Falmouth

By now, Massachusetts is well aware of the senior's talent on the field. The four-year varsity starter has been an Atlantic Coast League All-Star for two seasons and had 13 goals and 10 assists this season. Whitcher is also known for her field hockey skills in Europe. During the summer, she plays at field hockey camps in Amsterdam and Barcelona as a part of World Camp USA. She is a four-year varsity member of the track team and enjoys video production, music, and art. She will be playing field hockey at the University of Richmond next fall. | |
