Players of the Year

Colin Brennan, Andover
 DIVISION 1
This season Brennan was unstoppable; no one beat him as he compiled an impressive 15-0-1 record on his way to being named Merrimack Valley MVP for the second year. Leading Andover to a 16-0 season, the senior was first at the North sectionals, where he shot a 69 for a remarkable five-stroke win. He paced Andover to a third-place tie in the state finals with a 73, second best in the state. A four-time MVC all-conference player, and two-time All-Scholastic, Brennan took fourth in the Mass. Junior Amateurs, and seventh in the Eastern Mass. Amateurs. A captain on the Andover hockey team, Brennan will go to Rollins College.
Chris Fitzpatrick, Catholic Memorial
 DIVISION 2
The winner of the Catholic Conference championship with a 72 in a challenging field, Fitzpatrick has become a leading golfer in the conference. With a second consecutive South sectional championship, again shooting a 72, he proved he also belongs in that category for the state. The junior was the youngest to qualify for the Mass Amateur qualifier, and won the 2003 Bay State Games with a 73. He also played in the New England Amateur and the Francis Ouimet Tournament. Outside of golf, the Westwood resident is a captain on the basketball team at Catholic Memorial and wants to play golf at a Division 1 university.
Robert Marshalewski, Seekonk
 DIVISION 3
Marshalewski continued a string of dominating seasons and became the first player in South Coast Conference history to be named all-conference all four years. He captured the Division 3 state championship with a 77, a one-shot victory, putting Seekonk in a fifth-place finish. He also took the lead as his team won the SCC conference championship to qualify. An All-Scholastic in 2004, the 2005 SCC champ, and a four-time all-area team member, Marshalewski has left his mark on Seekonk golf. A Rensselaer medallist in 2005 for his outstanding work in math and science, he hopes to study engineering in college.

In his last year as head coach at Lincoln-Sudbury, this 12-year veteran wrapped up another terrific season, finishing 16-0 and winning the North sectional title. The Warriors were not going to falter in their coach's final try. DiMaggio racked up an incredible 159-29 record over the past 12 seasons, but he will put away his teaching clubs for retirement clubs this fall at the age of 51. A resident of Sudbury, DiMaggio also was named coach of the year in 1996. He played hockey and golf at Waltham High, and graduated from from Bentley College in 1977.

Gillis, a graduate of Blue Hills Regional High School and Bridgewater State College, was proud of his team this year. ''This was an incredible season for us. This summer the Malden native plans to advance his game by playing on the New England PGA Junior Tour.
Brian Cadigan, BC High

The senior served in his second year as captain for the two-time state champion and followed up a junior campaign in which he won the state championship with another incredible year. His 77 at the Cape and Islands sectionals was enough for second place, and pushed his team to states, where the Dragons defended their title even as Gunderson's slipped away. Last year's Globe Division 2 player of the year, Gunderson has played in many amateur contests and hopes to play in college.

A second-place 77 at the state championships by Stoddard led Duxbury to a Division 2 title this year, the second year in a row the Green Dragons have captured the crown. Stoddard's 80 in the Cape and the Islands regional helped Duxbury finish third and advance to the state championship round. With two 34s this season, against Sandwich and Marshfield, Stoddard helped lead Duxbury to a 10-0 record in Patriot League play.
