Runners of the Year

Division 1

Robert Gibson, Brookline

Our Runner of the Year didn’t see much silver this season. Gibson was first at the EMass meet (15 minutes 39 seconds) and at the All-State meet (14:25). He also won titles at Brown, Bowdoin, and Amherst. Led by Gibson, Brookline won the state title.
Division 2

Gabe Pacione, Hamilton-Wenham

The three-time All-Scholastic and defending Division 2 champion didn’t disappoint this season. He reclaimed his title at the All-State meet in Gardner with a time of 14 minutes 46 seconds. Pacione is also the Cape Ann Runner of the Year.

Coaches of the Year

Division 1

Mike Glennon, Brookline

Glennon helped produce four All- Scholastics this season as well as an undefeated record. Brookline swept the Bay State, EMass Division 1, All-State, and Nike Northeast meets. The Needham resident is a 1986 graduate of UMass.
Division 2

Kevin Black, Whitman-Hanson

A historic season for Whitman-Hanson included an 11-0 regular season, a first-place finish in the CM Invitational, and the first Division 2 state championship. In 30 years of coaching track and cross-country, Black has a career mark of 468-59-3.

All-Scholastics

Junior

David Wilson, Brookline

Wilson was nipping at the heels of teammate Robert Gibson all season. He was second at both the EMass Division 1 and All-State meets and at the Nike Nationals he led Brookline with a seventh-place finish. Brookline won the Division 1 state title.
Senior

Dylan Adler-Belendez, Lexington

Adler-Belendez, a Middlesex League All-Star, took third at the All-State meet in Gardner. He is a member of the National Honor Society and enjoys playing the piano, reading, and doing community service. He will attend Williams next fall.
Junior

Philip Galebach, Medford

Fifth at the Bay State Invitational and third at the EMass Division 1 meet, Galebach finished a successful season by taking fourth at the All-State meet. A Greater Boston League All-Star, he also participates in winter and spring track for the Mustangs.
Senior

Michael Burnstein, Brookline

Burnstein was royal in the Bay State this season. He won the title at the Bay State League meet and also had a third-place finish in the Bay State Invitational meet. At the All-State meet, he was ninth as the Warriors won the Division 1 team title.
Senior

Elliot Lehane, Brookline

The BU-bound Lehane was strong at the EMass Division 1 meet, finishing sixth, and at the All-State meet, where he clocked in at 14 minutes 46 seconds for 10th place. One of four Warriors on the team, Brookline won the Division 1 state title.
Senior

Carlos Montrond, Brockton

Montrond finished 10th at the EMass meet, running the Franklin Park course in 16 minutes 14 seconds. At the All-State meet, he improved his time (14:40) and finished sixth. A Big Three All-Star, Montrond is a repeat All-Scholastic selection.
Junior

Ethan Penney, Haverhill

Penney, a round-the-calendar runner, took eighth at the All-State meet with a time of 14 minutes 41 seconds following his impressive silver finish at the Merrimack Valley Conference meet (16:12). He also finished fourth at the CM Invitational.
Senior

Eric McDonald, Pentucket

McDonald followed up a secondplace finish at the Cape Ann League meet by winning the Division 3 EMass title. He went on the claim the bronze at the All-State meet in Division 2 and was the team MVP all four years at Pentucket.
Junior

Michael Moverman, Oliver Ames

The runner-up at the Division 2 All-State meet was a Hockomock League All-Star. The 5-foot-9-inch Moverman is a member of the National Honor Society. He enjoys running and is a classically trained pianist.
Senior

Chris Brown, Chelmsford

Brown netted two key top-12 finishes this season on the way to being the Merrimack Valley Conference Runner of the Year. At the EMass meet, he finished seventh in 16 minutes 8 seconds. He went on to take 12th at the All-State meet (14:58) in Gardner.
Senior

Jared Correia, New Bedford

In his first year of running crosscountry, Correia finished 11th at the EMass meet at Franklin Park, running in 16 minutes 15 seconds. The Big Three All-Star duplicated the feat at the All-State meet, finishing in 14:45.
Senior

Peter Gilmore, Whitman-Hanson

The captain finished his season by taking 16th at the Division 1 state meet. Led by Gilmore, the Panthers won the Division 2 state title. The Atlantic Coast all-star has maintained a 3.5 GPA and plans to continue his career in college.
