Runners of the Year

Division 1

Kirsten Kasper, North Andover

This swimming state champion will have a chance to defend cross-country titles next season after winning the EMass Division 2 and All-State Division 1 meets. Kasper, an honor roll student, enjoys running, swimming, and reading.
Division 2

Keely Maguire, Triton

Maguire takes her place atop Division 2 for a second straight year. Maguire capped her senior year by finishing second in the Division 2 state meet in 16:21, the best finish by an EMass runner. The week before she won the EMass Division 3 title.

Coaches of the Year

Division 1

Chris Tarello, Lincoln-Sudbury

Tarello led the Warriors to the MIAA Division 1 state championship and a Dual County League title. He has compiled a 50-5 coaching record between stints at Lincoln-Sudbury and in New Jersey. He is a 1997 graduate of Rider.
Division 2

Joe Cantillon, Winchester

Whether it’s girls’ cross-country or his talented boys’ team, Cantillon has been a fixture at Winchester for 36 years. This fall the girls went 8-1 and finished sixth in the Division 3 EMass meet. The past five years the Sachem girls have gone 42-3.

All-Scholastics

Junior

Rebecca White, Natick

White picked up two runner-up medals at the Division 2 EMass final and the Division 1 All-State race. She also set course records in Natick, Braintree, Framingham, and Needham. This is White’s second All- Scholastic selection
Sophomore

Abbey D'Agostino, Masconomet

D’Agostino seems to excel at whatever she does. She took third at the EMass meet and third at the All-State meet. She holds her school’s crosscountry course record and is third in her class of 374 with a grade-point average of 5.042.
Sophomore

Megan Barry, Dennis-Yarmouth

The Atlantic Coast League All-Star swept three races this season: the Catholic Memorial Invitational, the South Coast Conference meet, and the State Coaches’ sophomore race. She then took fourth place at the EMass and All-State meets.
Sophomore

Jenna Davidner, Oliver Ames

The Hockomock League champion didn’t lose a league race all season. Davidner was the EMass Class C runner-up with a time of 18 minutes 7 seconds. She also posted a thirdplace finish at the Division 2 All-State meet.
Sophomore

Madeleine Reed, Newton South

During Reed’s first season of crosscountry, she finished second at the Division 1 EMass finals (18 minutes 35 seconds) and fifth at the All-States in Gardner (17:17). She also plays ice hockey and competes in outdoor track.
Freshman

Andrea Keklak, Lincoln-Sudbury

Keklak led her team to a Division 1 state championship and a runner-up finish at the EMass finals. She was the Dual County League champion and finished seventh at the All-State meet with a time of 17 minutes 27 seconds.
Junior

Shauna McNiff, Hingham

This was McNiff’s first season running cross-country and it was memorable. She finished fourth at the Division 2 All-State meet. She also had top-five finishes at the Ocean State Invitational in Rhode Island and at the Bay State Invitational.
Senior

Jessica Pickett, Oliver Ames

A runner-up at the Hockomock championship race, Pickett finished her career with fifth-place finishes at the EMass Division 3 meet and the Division 2 All-State meet. The honor roll student plans to attend Clemson, North Carolina, or Elon next year.
Sophomore

Sarah Shanahan, Chelmsford

The three-season running star was the Merrimack Valley Conference champion and set course records in Haverhill and Andover. Shanahan finished fifth at the EMass Division 1 meet and was eighth in the All-State meet.
Junior

Kelsey Karys, Newton South

The Division 1 EMass champion set two course records this season, shattering the marks at Cold Spring Park in Newton and the school course at Westford Academy. She went undefeated in the regular season in the Dual County League.
Junior

Emily Lanois, Hamilton-Wenham

Lanois, who won the EMass Division 4 title, led her team to an undefeated regular season. She was third at the Cape Ann League championships and second at the Boston Invitational. This is her third All-Scholastic selection.
Sophomore

Alanna Poretta, Pentucket

Poretta posted back-to-back top-10 finishes in the Division 3 EMass race (fourth) and the Division 2 All-State race (ninth). The high honor roll student also competes during the indoor and outdoor track seasons for Pentucket.
