Players of the Year

Division 1
Kara Cullen, Barnstable
Cullen has been a star on the buzz
saw that is Barnstable. The Red
Raiders won the Division 1 state
championship and Cullen was selected
an All-Scholastic for the second
consecutive season. She holds the
schools season kills record with 356.

Division 2
Maria Scocca, Arlington Catholic
This is Scoccas second consecutive
All-Scholastic selection and she led
Arlington Catholic to the Catholic
Central League title, the schools fifth
straight, and a 17-5 record. Scocca, a
two-time All-State selection, will
attend Bryant next fall.

Division 3
Caitlin Burchill, Ursuline
The team captain and MVP anchored
her squad from her outside hitter
position. Ursuline was Division 3
South champion for the third time in
four seasons and finished with a 19-5
record. Burchill is member of the
National Honor Society.
Coaches of the Year

Division 1
Kai Yuen, Boston Latin
Yuen has 28 years of coaching experience
on his résumé, the last nine at
Boston Latin. During his tenure,
Boston Latin has gone 135-54 and
had an improbable upset of topseeded
Latin Academy in the Central
East Division 1 quarterfinals.

Division 2
Joe Reardon, Bishop Feehan
Reardon guided Bishop Feehan to an
Eastern Athletic Conference title and
a 21-2 record that included a spot in
the Division 2 South tournament
semifinals. He has been with Bishop
Feehan for 15 years and has compiled
a 235-82 record.

Division 3
Vin Hayward, Holbrook
Hayward will be picking up back-toback
awards in 2007, first as Mayflower
Coach of the Year in baseball.
His volleyball team went 17-3 and
advanced to the Division 3 South
semifinals. A Randolph High grad,
his career mark is 70-44.
All-Scholastics

Senior
Shelagh Dolan, Westford Academy
Dolan helped Westford capture its
first Dual County League championship
since 1999. She was named
the leagues Most Valuable Player and
is a three-year starter for the Grey
Ghosts. An honor roll student, Dolan
also plays basketball.

Junior
Jadith Lorenzo, Lawrence
Lorenzo was the setter on an 18-4
Lawrence team that advanced to the
Division 1 North final, where it was
upended by MVC-rival Andover. She
averaged 34 assists and 9 kills per
match and earned MVC All-Conference
honors.

Junior
Stephanie Bristol, Barnstable
Bristol is one of three players from
Division 1 champion Barnstable to be
picked to the All-Scholastic team. She
was second on the team with 309
kills as the Red Raiders broke the
state record for consecutive wins. She
has maintained a 3.8 GPA.

Senior
Amanda Parker, Barnstable
Parker was the passing hub of Barnstables
Division 1 winning squad.
She tallied 624 assists to go with 146
digs and 39 aces as the Red Raiders
won their fifth straight state championship.
Parker also plays lacrosse for
Barnstable.

Junior
Alison Friberg, North Reading
Friberg, a setter, led North Reading
to a Cape Ann League title and the
Division 3 state championship. Friberg
was the Cape Ann League MVP.
She is an honor student and also
plays softball and captains the basketball
team.

Senior
Virginia Wong, North Quincy
Wong recorded 24 kills against rival
Quincy in the Division 1 Central/East
final, a game that North Quincy won,
3-2. The middle blocker is a member
of the National Honor Society and
throws the javelin during the spring
track season.

Senior
Theresa Staulo, Newton North
Staulo, a setter, is a four-time Bay
State All-Star and a member of the
Division 1 All-State team. Staulo
fine-tunes her game in the offseason,
playing for Smash volleyball. She also
excels in the classroom and will
attend the College of Saint Rose.

Junior
Caitlin Barrett, Medfield
Barrett was the Tri-Valley League
Most Valuable Player. She was named
to the Massachusetts Girls Volleyball
Coaches Association Division 2 first
team as the Warriors finished 20-3.
Barrett also plays basketball and runs
track for Medfield.

Senior
Meghan Thomann, Andover
Thomann spurred Andover to a
Division 1 North title and a berth in
the state semifinals. She compiled
166 kills and a serve percentage of 98
and earned Division 1 MVC Player of
the Year honors. Thomann will attend
Bentley to play basketball.

Senior
Alicia Woodberry, Quincy
Woodberry was the setter and the
engine of a Quincy team with a quick
offense. Quincy advanced to the
Central East Division 1 final on
Woodberrys shoulders. Shes a leader
off the court too, ranked No. 1 in her
senior class.

Kathryne Olsen, Fairhaven
Fairhaven plowed through the competition
this fall before having its
undefeated season stopped by
Bourne in the Division 3 South final.
A member of the Division 2 All-State
team, Olsen earned a spot on the
South Coast Conference Super Team.

Senior
Courtney Faria, Bourne
Faria has been in the middle of
Bournes recent run of success. The
team captain, she was a member of
the 2004 Division 2 state championship
team and has guided Bourne
to back-to-back berths in the state
title game (2006-07).
