Players of the Year

Division 1
Diego Garcia, Lexington
The senior forward, an All-American
and EMass All-Star, led an offense
that helped Lexington go undefeated
(18-0-0) in the regular season for the
first time in Middlesex League history.
A two-year captain, Garcia led the
league in goals (21) and assists (10).

Division 2
Brett Conrad, Nauset
The 6-foot-7-inch All-American is
Nausets career shutout leader, and
he posted 13 clean sheets this season.
A two-year captain and four-year
varsity player, Conrad is also captain
of the basketball team and a member
of the National Honor Society.

Division 3
John Britton, Hamilton-Wenham
Britton netted back-to-back overtime
goals in the playoffs to lift the Generals
to the state final. The Cape Ann
Small Player of the Year had 15 goals
and six assists, earning him Eastern
Mass. All-Star and Division 3 All-
State honors.
Coaches of the Year

Division 1
Richard Robens, Brockton
In his ninth year with the Boxers,
Robens led his squad to the Division
1 South Sectional title. Their 12-3-8
record reflected a great support
system that allowed the team to
flourish, said Robens, who has
coached varsity soccer for 13 years.

Division 2
Leonard Emmons, Masconomet
Emmons described his squad as one
of the best passing teams I have ever
coached. That team was the North
Sectional champ, finished 22-1-1,
and made it to the state final. The
National Soccer Hall of Fame member
has been coaching for 37 years.

Division 3
Matt Gauron, Hamilton-Wenham
The Cape Ann League Coach of the
Year for the third time in five seasons,
Gauron led the Generals to the Cape
Ann Small title and then to the state
final. In his seven years as head
coach, the Haverhill High graduate
has compiled a 57-41-18 record.
All-Scholastics

Forward, Sr.
Blake Brailsford, Coyle & Cassidy
With 55 points this season, the Coyle
& Cassidy captain finished as the top
scorer in the state. Brailsford, who
scored 66 goals during his career,
earned Eastern Athletic Conference
All-Star honors for the second time.
He is an honor roll student.

Forward, Sr.
Adam Cherubini, BC High
The All-State selection led the Eagles
to the Catholic Conference championship
with his leadership and smart
play. Of Cherubinis 11 goals, nine
tied or won games. The forward was
unanimously voted Catholic Conference
MVP.

Forward, Soph.
Cole DeNormandie, Lincoln-Sudbury
Though his team didnt make it past
the first round, the Dual County
League MVPs talents did not go
unnoticed. DeNormandie, an All-
New England selection, made an
impact on the field, netting 12 goals
and adding six assists.

Forward, Jr.
Victor Ferreira, New Bedford
The Big Three MVP produced 11
goals and eight assists in his third
year as a varsity player. Ferreira
helped power the league champion
Whalers to the South Sectional quarterfinals
before the team fell to conference
rival Brockton.

Center Midfield, Sr.
Brad MacDonald, Masconomet
This Cape Ann Player of the Year was
more than a flashy scorer. He found
the back of the net 14 times but also
recorded 25 assists. Macdonald was
chosen for the All-New England team
after Masco made it to the Division 2
state final.

Midfield, Sr.
Erick Nader, Framingham
The second-year All-Scholastic
scored 10 goals and added 10 assists
for the 17-1-6 Flyers. A two-time All-
New England selection and twice a
Bay State All-Star, Nader overcame
nagging shoulder injuries to lead
his team to the state final.

Sweeper, Sr.
Ryan Pennie, Framingham
The All-New England selection led
Framingham to its second consecutive
state final and was a significant
part of a defense that held playoff
opponents to just one goal, which
came in the 19th second of the loss to
Ludlow in the championship game.

Center Midfield, Sr.
Shane Regan, North Quincy
Regans 23 goals and 21 assists gave
him 101 career points and All-State
honors for the second time. The
three-time league All-Star has participated
in a state Olympic Development
Program and is a member of
the foreign language honor society.

Defense, Sr.
Antonio Rodrigues
Rodrigues was a committed member
of a defense that led Burke to its third
straight City championship, a 17-2
record, and the No. 2 seed in Division
2North. The senior also plays for
Strela Negra Soccer Association and
is on the track team.

Center midfield, Sr.
Robert Saraf, Canton
The 6-footer gained Eastern Massachusetts
All-Star, All-State, and
All-New England honors after leading
his team into the South Sectional
semifinals. The MVP of the Hockomock
League, Saraf also plays for the
Eastern Mass. Red Devils.

Midfield, Sr.
Jared Spicer, Carver
The All-State selection contributed
13 goals and 15 assists while leading
his team to the South Sectional title.
A three-time South Shore League
All-Star and two-time captain, Carver
also played varsity basketball and is
captain of the track team.

Center midfield, Sr.
Ian Woods, Brockton
Woods helped propel the Boxers to
the Division 1 South sectional title
and a 12-3-8 record with his unrelenting
offensive efforts. The central
midfielder, who was named to
the All-State team, is a recipient of an
Abigail Adams scholarship.
