Spring team 2005

Victoria Aiello, Milton Academy
 ISL TENNIS
She may be just finishing her freshman year, but the 5-foot-7-inch first singles player is building a resume that would make most seniors jealous. A member of the varsity squad since the seventh grade, Aiello is ranked eighth in New England by the USTA. This season, she earned team MVP honors, as well as a spot on the All-ISL squad. She also helped Milton to the ISL title, an effort that earned her cocaptain status for her sophomore campaign. In her spare time, she enjoys playing the piano and traveling.
Emilie Arthur, Governor Dummer
 ISL SOFTBALL
Stepping into the batter's box against this junior starter was a daunting task this spring, as she posted a 10-1 record with a 1.15 ERA. She struck out 93 batters in just 73 innings, and also carried a .533 batting average with 16 RBIs. That impressive resume vaulted her to her second consecutive league MVP award. Also a standout on the basketball court, the honor roll student enjoys photography and singing in GDA's chorus. In the summer she competes for the Quick Silver Junior Olympic team.
Whitaker Hagerman, Brooks
 ISL LACROSSE
An All-Scholastic since her freshman year, Hagerman was named to the all-ISL squad in three sports - field hockey, ice hockey, and, of course, lacrosse. This season, she racked up 68 goals and 64 assists for her first season of 100+ points. Overall, she's scored 162 goals and 131 assists. An honors student, Hagerman will attend the University of Virginia to study communications and political science and play lacrosse.
Yasha MacDonald, Thayer
 ISL TRACK
A standout in many events, including the long jump, triple jump, 100-meter dash, and the 4x100 relay, MacDonald was the long jump champion at both the ISL and NEPSAC championship meets. She also took home the ISL title in the 100, and the NEPSAC crown in the triple jump. ''I was extremely fortunate to have great long jumping coaches at both Whitman-Hanson and Thayer and am extremely grateful,'' she said. A National Honor Society student, MacDonald was also twice named to the all-state soccer squad. She will attend Columbia.
Brendan Mahoney, St. Sebastian's
 ISL GOLF
Mahoney earned his second All-Scholastic award in as many seasons after a 13-1 senior year. His 74 at the ISL championships at Mount Pleasant was good enough for a third-place finish at the premier league event. An ISL first-teamer each of the last four years and also the team captain, Mahoney caddies at both the Wollaston Golf Club and the Country Club of Brookline. An Orange Bowl International qualifier, he will attend Eckerd College in Florida.
Brian Morrissey, Governor Dummer
 ISL LACROSSE
The senior defenseman is no stranger to these pages, having graced them several times due to his prowess as an All-New England running back for the Governors. Morrissey is equally adept on the lacrosse field, as he was named GDA's MVP, the ISL MVP, and earned a spot on the All-American squad. An honor roll student, Morrissey has earned several academic awards, including the Moody-Kent prize given for excellence in English. He plans to attend Williams College in the fall.
Brendan Powers, Roxbury Latin
 ISL BASEBALL
Powers did a little bit of everything on the diamond this spring, sporting a 2-0 pitching record with a pair of saves to go with a nifty .440 batting average, three home runs, and 16 RBIs. Those stats contributed put the Roxbury Latin captain and shortstop on his second ISL All-Star squad. He also earned his first league MVP award. Also a standout on the ice where he was team captain and earned ISL All-Star honors, Powers plans to attend Amherst College and will continue to play baseball and hockey next year.

Off the courts, he's won the National German Examination prize the last three years. The St. Paul's captain and academic standout plans to attend Georgetown in the fall.
