Players of the year

Alex Giammarco, Xaverian
 DIVISION 1
  The senior midfielder finished his career as a two-time All-American and a three-time All Catholic Conference All-Star. Giammarco, who led the Hawks (22-1) to two consecutive appearances in the Division 1 state final, will attend Middlebury College.
C.J. Estes, Medfield
 DIVISION 2
  The senior attack led the Warriors with 117 points (64 goals, 53 assists) as Medfield won its first Division 2 state title. Estes, who will attend Hebron Academy, tallied 28 points in the postseason and finished with 283 career points.
Mike Bunstein, Cohasset
 DIVISION 3
  The All-America pass-first, shootsecond senior attack tallied 31 goals and 70 assists as Cohasset won its second straight Division 3 state title. Bunstein, who scored one goal and dished out four assists against Scituate in the final, will attend Lasell.

Coaches of the year

Tim Gardner, Xaverian
 DIVISION 1
  Gardner led the Hawks (22-1) to their second consecutive appearance in the state championship. Gardner, the Catholic Conference coach of the year, is 89-55 record over eight seasons. He graduated from Williams College in 1993.
Tom Cavanaugh, Wayland
 DIVISION 2
  The 50-year-old Cavanaugh led the Warriors (17-4) to their first Dual County League championship this season and is closing in on 200 career wins at the varsity level. He played football for four years at Springfield College and graduated in 1978.
Rick Bagby, Cohasset
 DIVISION 3
  Scituate went 2-14 before Bagby took over four years ago. This season the Sailors (16-4) made their first appearance in the Division 3 state final. The Virginia native is 134-59 in his 12 seasons coaching lacrosse. He graduated from Hampden-Sydney College.

The All-Scholastics

Rusty Bannister, North Andover
 Midfield, Sr.
  The Cape Ann League MVP led the Knights to the quarterfinals of the Division 2 tournament. Bannister, who is a three-time CAL All-Star in soccer, will spend a year in Switzerland before pursuing his dream of playing lacrosse for Navy.
Alex Boches, Beverly
 Midfield, Sr.
  Boches had 54 points for Beverly, which was knocked out in the second round of the Division 1 tournament. The All-American, also a two-time first-team Northeastern Conference All-Star, had 120 points during his career and will attend Colby College.
Ben Chadwick, Needham
 Attack, Sr.
  The team MVP tallied 96 points (50 goals, 46 assists) en route to being named a first-team Bay State League All-Star for the second time. The All-American, who scored more than 200 points in his career, will play lacrosse and football at Bowdoin.
Gary Crowley, Scituate
 Midfield, Sr.
  The Patriot League Sportsman of the Year led the Sailors with 158 points (109 goals, 49 assists) over the last two seasons. The All-American, who is a two-time league All-Star and quarterbacks the football team, will play lacrosse at Bryant.
Stephen Crowley, Xaverian
 Defense, Sr.
  The All-American was a vital cog in Xaverian’s defense, which carried the Hawks to a second straight appearance in the Division 1 state final. He was also named a first-team Catholic Conference All-Star. Crowley will attend the University of Vermont.
Tim Flynn, Barnstable
 Attack, Sr.
  The Maritime League MVP finished with 47 goals and 51 assists as the Raiders advanced to the quarterfinals of the Division 1 tournament. The All-American, who tallied 141 goals and 112 assists in his career, will attend Towson University.
Tom Frasca, Medfield
 Midfield, Sr.
  The All-American, who scored two goals against Longmeadow in the Division 2 state final, won three state championships in four years. Frasca, who tallied 32 goals and 24 assists this season, will join Stephen Crowley at the University of Vermont.
Connor Hayes, Mansfield
 Attack, Sr.
  The Hockomock League MVP had 90 goals and 50 assists as the Hornets enjoyed their best season ever. Hayes, an All-American and three-time EMass All-Star, finished with 208 goals and 120 assists for his career. He will attend Bryant.
Brendan Hughes, Andover
 Midfield, Jr.
  Hughes had 53 goals and 43 assists for Andover, which lost to Xaverian in the Division 1 semifinals. The All-American, who carries a 3.8 GPA, has 75 goals and 58 assists during his career. He also plays football, runs indoor track, and plays guitar.
John Lenehan, BC High
 Goalie, Sr.
  The Eagles netminder was instrumental in BC High’s (15-5) run to the quarterfinals of the Division 1 tournament. BC High surrendered just 97 goals in 20 games for a 4.85 goalsagainst average. Lenehan has not finalized his college plans.
Eddie Leonard, Peabody
 Midfield, Sr.
  The three-sport captain and league all-star — lacrosse, basketball, and football — led the Greater Boston League in scoring with 31 goals and 69 assists. Leonard, who is headed to UMass-Amherst, also finished with more than 1,000 points in basketball.
Gary McKay, Billerica
 Midfield, Sr.
  The 5-foot-9-inch, 200-pound senior won more than 80 percent of his faceoffs, helping the Indians advance to the Division 1 semifinals. McKay, an honor roll student, will be reunited with Merluzzo at Southern New Hampshire University.
Keith Merluzzo, Billerica
 Attack, Sr.
  Merluzzo, who finished with 91 points, led the Indians in points each of the last three seasons. Billerica’s MVP was also named MVP of the Merrimack Valley Conference. He will attend Southern New Hampshire University.
Ben Sherry, Wayland
 Attack, Sr.
  The Trinity-bound Sherry, the Globe’s Division 1A football Player of the Year, finished third all-time on the Wayland lacrosse scoring list. The All-American, who is a three-time Dual County League All-Star, was named DCL Attackman of the Year.
Craig Sullivan, Duxbury
 Defense, Jr.
  Sullivan may be the best junior longstick defenseman around. He carried the Green Dragons to their fourth consecutive Division 1 state title and helped Duxbury increase its MIAA winning streak to 73 games. He also plays football.
