Player of the year

Tim Lee, Natick
 SETTER
  The two-time Globe All-Scholastic setter (859 career assists) led the Redmen to a state championship beating Newton North 3-0. Lee is a four-year starter and three-time BSC All-Star. The MIT bound, 2007 class president boasts a 4.3 GPA.

Coach of the year

Edward Smith, Quincy
  Smith led Quincy to its first tournament berth in four years as well being undefeated in the South Alliance (10-0 league, 15-5 overall record). A graduate from Quincy in 1998, (UMass 2002) Smith also coaches girls’ JV volleyball and robotics.

The All-Scholastics

Jeff Aucoin, Catholic Memorial
 Outside hitter, Sr.
  Aucoin was a part of the Western Alliance champs in 2005, 2006, and 2007 and won the South sectional in 2004. CM finished 14-6 and lost to New Bedford in the South semis. The outside hitting specialist is an honor roll student. He’ll attend New Haven.
Frank Bueno, Lowell
 Outside hitter, Sr.
  Bueno was named the Division 2 Player of the Year in the Merrimack Valley Conference. The Red Raiders fell to powerhouse St. John’s Prep, 3-0 in the North tournament quarterfinals. Bueno played in the Bay State Games and also plays soccer.
Jamison Chue, Newton South
 Setter, Soph.
  The 5-7, 165-pound sophomore led the Lions to the quarterfinals of the Division 1 South tournament, beating Taunton, 3-2, before falling to New Bedford, 3-0. Newton South finish an impressive spring 13-9. Chue plays for Beantown Volleyball.
Drew Corwin, Lincoln-Sudbury
 Outside hitter, Jr.
  Corwin compiled 207 kills, 80 digs, and 61 aces with a nasty back-court jump serve. The Warriors would fall to Natick, 3-2, in the Central final and an unbeaten regular season. The junior is a DCL All-Star and averaged 13 kills and five aces per match.
Sean Ducharme, Taunton
 Outside hitter, Sr.
  Ducharme had 248 kills, 32 blocks, and 18 aces to bring his career kill total to 501. A South Alliance All- Star, the senior plays for Bay State Coastal volleyball and enjoys basketball and drawing. He will attend Savannah College of Art and Design.
Craig Harvey, St. John's Prep
 Outside hitter, Sr.
  Harvey amassed 370 kills, was named MVC Player of the Year, and is a two-time Globe All-Scholastic for the North champion Eagles. Prep fell to Natick in the state semis. A member of the National Honor Society, Harvey will attend Juniata College.
Patrick Helmas, Norwood
 Setter, Sr.
  Helmas and the Mustangs made back-to-back tournament appearances, reaching the South sectional semifinals for the second time in school history. The captain is a fouryear starter and a two-time Bay State Conference All-Star.
Nate Miller, New Bedford
 Outsider hitter, Sr.
  Miller led the Whalers with 186 kills and 80 blocks for the Big Three champions (18-0 regular season) before they fell to Newton North in the Division 1 South final. The junior had a season-high 17 kills and six blocks against Catholic Memorial.
Alan Mui, Boston Latin
 Outside hitter, Sr.
  The team captain had 300 kills and 150 digs, is a two-time DCL first team All-Star, and two-year starter. Mui is a member of the National Honor Society and runs track and field. He is also a Bay State Games gold medalist and will attend Tufts.
Sean O'Connor, St. John's Prep
 Setter, Sr.
  The second-year captain and twotime All-Scholastic tallied 874 career assists and is an MVC All-Star. O’Connor is a member of the National Honor Society with a 4.0 GPA and he will attend Emmanuel College to study English/Communications.
Andrew Paine, Quincy
 Middle hitter, Jr.
  Paine recorded a match-high 38 kills and averaged 21.1 kills per match (422 total). In his three years he has 826 kills. The junior is a three-year all-star and the South Alliance MVP. Paine enjoys tennis is also a member of the National Honor Society.
Bryce Shulman, Lincoln-Sudbury
 Outside hitter, Sr.
  The 6-4, 200-pound senior is a twotime Dual County All-Star and the DCL MVP this year. Shulman averaged 48 percent in kills and is a threeyear varsity starter for Lincoln-Sudbury, which finished 21-1. Shulman will attend Syracuse.
Shaun Sibley, Natick
 Middle hitter, Jr.
  The 6’8, 215 lbs Sibley threw down 19 kills in the state championship vs. Newton North finishing with 364 kills and 113 blocks this season. This brought his career totals to 548 kills. Sibley is a two-time BSC All-Star and is traveling to Atlanta for Nationals.
Patrick Tom, Newton North
 Libero, So.
  Tom was named a Bay State Conference All-Star for the South champion Tigers who pulled off major upsets over New Bedford and Agawam to reach the state title match against Bay State rival Natick. He will attend the Vollleyball Nationals in Atlanta.
Jeremy Velazquez, Chelmsford
 Setter, Jr.
  Velazquez registered 804 assists, 66 kills, 43 service aces, 245 digs, and 61 blocks this season for the Lions, but bowed to St. John’s Prep in the North Sectional final, 3-1. The junior is a three-year starting setter and plays for the Beantown 17’s Black team.
