100 hurdles, triple jump, Jr.
Meghan Ferreira, Mansfield
A double champion in the 100-meter
hurdles (Division 2, 14.95; All-State,
14.90), Ferreira also won the Division
2 triple jump title and was part of the
Hornets 4 x 400 relay team that took
first at All-States with a time of
3:56.98.
Coaches of the Year

Division 1
Steven McChesney, Newton South
The 27-year veteran led his team to
titles in the Dual County League,
Division 1 meet, and All-States. With
six state championships between
cross-country and indoor/outdoor
track, he called 2008 the greatest
year in our programs history.

Division 2
Kim Huffer, Chelsea
Huffers Red Devils went 9-0 to win
the Commonwealth Athletic Conference
championship. She felt several
things went into her teams season,
saying that through dedication,
hard work, and the support of each
other, they were able to succeed.

Division 3
Joseph Colbert, Triton
A 10-0 season that featured Cape Ann
League and Division 3 titles helped
Colbert earn the leagues coach of the
year honor for the third time in six
seasons. He called his team one of
the most talented groups of athletes
Ive ever seen.

Division 4
Gregory Zopatti, Pembroke
Zopatti said that his group of runners
this year put Pembroke track and
field on the map. The stellar season
included a division title in the Patriot
League and the Division 4 state
championship, so his teams accomplishments
back up his words.
All-Scholastics

Shot put, Jr.
Emmaline Berg, Holliston
Last winters All-State indoor champion
nearly doubled up with the
outdoor title as well, placing second
(38-9æ). Berg, a junior, finished
seventh in the shot put at the New
England championships with a
throw of 38-9OE.

100, Soph.
Charmine Bien-Aime, Cambridge
The Division 1 champion (12.47
seconds) placed second at All-States
(12.39) and finished sixth at the New
England championships. She also
ran the opening leg of the Falcons 4 x
100 relay team that won the Division
1 title.

400, Sr.
Shannon Conway, North Reading
Conway capped a fantastic year with
a victory in the 400 meters at the
New England championships (55.92
seconds). Before that, she won at the
State Coaches meet (57.18) and
became the Division 4 and All-State
champion. She will attend Harvard.

Pole vault, Jr.
Samantha Dweck, Concord-Carlisle
A Dual County League all-star, Dweck
had a high of 10 feet, captured the
league title, and came away with the
Division 2 championship with a vault
of 9-6. She is a member of the schools
honor roll and National Honor Society
chapter.

Triple jump, Sr.
Nakeisha Jones, O'Bryant
In addition to her three triple jump
titles (State Coaches, 38-9; Division 3,
37-1Æ; All-State, 38-9), Jones also
broke school records in the triple
jump, high jump, 55-meter hurdles,
and 100-meter hurdles. Shell be
going to Tufts.

High jump, Sr.
Kristen Judge, Tewksbury
In addition to the Division 2 title
(5-6) and All-State crown (5-6), Judge
also won all-conference honors and
the Merrimack Valley Conferences
Most Valuable Field Event Performer
award. She plans to attend the University
of Pennsylvania.

2 mile, Jr.
Kelsey Karys, Newton South
Leading the pack all season was
Karys, who won the Division 1 title
(10:52.95) and placed second at
All-States (10:55.23). She also
cracked the 11-minute mark seven
times. In her free time, she enjoys
horseback riding and art.

Mile, Sr.
Kirsten Kasper, North Andover
Kasper won the Division 2 state title
with a time of 4:58.37, then proved to
be the best at All-States by clocking
4:59.45. At the New England championships,
she came within two
seconds of a victory, settling for
runner-up.

Long jump, Soph.
Deanna Latham, Triton
Latham also made a mark in the
triple jump, 100-meter high hurdles
(Cape Ann League champion), and
200-meter dash (league and Division
3 state champ), but she pulled off the
trifecta of Cape Ann, Division 3, and
All-State titles in the long jump.

Discus, Sr.
Kayla Littig, Carver
Littig improved her throws in each of
her three major wins this season: the
State Coaches meet (117-1), the
Division 4 championships (117-7),
and the All-States (127-9). Also a star
in field hockey, Littig will attend
UMass-Lowell.

300 hurdles, Sr.
Karyn Moss, Medfield
Despite sustaining an ACL injury
while playing field hockey in the fall,
Moss won the Division 3 title with a
time of 46.23 seconds, then followed
up with a victory at All-State with a
blistering 45.0. The Tri-Valley League
MVP will attend Williams.

Javelin, Sr.
Elyse Ogletree, Wayland
The University of Vermont-bound
star nearly won three titles, with
firsts in the State Coaches (121-5)
and Division 3 meets (124-5) and a
runner-up at All-States (128-1). She
also placed fifth at the New England
championships.

800, Jr.
Carolyn Ranti, Newton North
A victory at All-States (personal-best
2:13.0) was just one highlight in a
year that featured a Bay State Conference
all-star berth and wins in the
sprint medley and distance medley at
the State Relays. Off the track, she
plays the cello and goes biking.

200, Jr.
Samantha Stabile, Haverhill
Stabile won the 100 meters in the
Merrimack Valley Conference championships,
and captured the 200 in
the Division 1 (25.56) and All-State
(25.41) meets. She was undefeated in
the high jump, 100, 200, and 400
during dual meets.

The Rocketeers foursome of (from left) Carolyn
Udall, Kristen McLoughlin, Kathryn Flannery, and
Julianne Cappadona took first place at the Division 2
championships (49.29 seconds), then nipped Division
4 champ North Reading for the All-State title.

Mansfield
Meghan Ferreira, Michelle Jenssen, freshman Emily
Broyles, and Colleen Davis broke their school record
at All-States (3:56.98), then with the help of fill-in
runner Katie Jenkins, the team placed fifth at the
New Englands.

Lincoln-Sudbury
The team (from left) of Ellie Hylton, Emily Mepham,
Molly Binder, Andrea Keklak , and Claire Arthur
cruised to the Dual County League crown, and also
earned victories in the Division 1 championships
