Players of the Year

Division 1 / senior / Outfielder
Dario Pizzano, Malden Catholic
Pizzano earned MVP honors in the
Catholic Conference, hitting .552
with 2 home runs and 37 RBIs. The
senior outfielder was twice a league
batting champ and all-star, and is one
of two players in MC history with 100
career hits. He will attend Columbia.

Division 2 / senior / pitcher
Joe Flynn, Plymouth North
Flynn finished his pitching career
33-4, including a 10-2 record this
season. He was MVP of the Atlantic
Coast League and led the Blue Eagles
back to the state title game, a year
after they went undefeated and won
it all. He will attend Franklin Pierce.

Division 3 / Senior / Pitcher
Steve Perakslis, Abington
Perakslis led the Green Wave to the
schools first state title and won his
second South Shore League MVP
award, finishing with a .523 average,
5 home runs, and 33 RBIs. As a pitcher,
he went 9-0 with a 0.25 ERA. He
will enroll at Maine in the fall.
Coaches of the Year

Division 1
Norm Walsh, BC High
Walsh led the Eagles to their second
straight state title this season despite
having returned only two starters. In
30 years, Walsh is 460-217 and owns
three state titles. He was elected into
the Massachusetts Baseball Coaches
Association Hall of Fame this year.

division 2
Todd Dulin, North Andover
Dulin guided North Andover to a
20-5 record and the North sectional
crown, earning Coach of the Year
honors in the Cape Ann League. In
three seasons, the North Andover
alum is 48-19. The Scarlet Knights
tied for the CAL championship.

division 3
Stephen Perakslis, Abington
Perakslis led the Green Wave to the
first state championship in school
history, a team led by his son, Steve.
In eight seasons, the Abington alum
is 123-70, including 24-2 this year.
He said this years team was the
hardest-working group hes coached.
All-Scholastics

senior / pitcher
Sahil Bloom, Weston
Bloom was MVP of the Dual County
League Small, posting a 6-0 record
with 3 saves, a 0.90 ERA, and 61
strikeouts in 46 innings. He finished
his career 22-6 with a 1.95
ERA. He is committed to play at
Stanford next year.

junior / pitcher, first base
Mike Calzetta, Lawrence
The MVP of the Merrimack Valley
Conference Small was 7-1 with a 1.43
ERA and is 13-3 with a 1.98 ERA in
his career. The two-time MVC All-
Star also batted .464. He will play for
the Merrimack Valley Titans AAU
squad this summer.

junior / pitcher, outfielder
Eddie Campbell, Bridgewater-Raynham
Campbell was co-Pitcher of the Year
in the Old Colony League, going 8-0
with a 0.90 ERA and 97 strikeouts in
62 innings. He also batted .352 with
3 homers and 24 RBIs. The threetime
OCL All-Star is committed to
play at Virginia Tech in 2010.

senior / pitcher, first base
Chris Carmain, St. John's Prep
Carmain was 9-1 with a 2.20 ERA,
and 58 strikeouts in 60 innings and
helped lead the Eagles to the Division
1North title game. The Catholic
Conference All-Star also batted .403
with 6 home runs, and 33 RBIs. He
will play baseball at Northeastern.

senior / pitcher, shortstop
Hunter Gordon, Swampscott
Gordon was MVP of the Northeastern
Conference Small with his
EMass-leading 10 home runs, .683
batting average, and 37 RBIs. He was
also 5-1 on the mound with a 0.59
ERA and 66 strikeouts. He will play
at Boston College next season.

senior / outfielder
Tyler Horan, BC High
Horan captained BC High to its
second straight Division 1 title, hitting
.413 with 4 home runs, 21 RBIs,
and 14 stolen bases. The Virginia
Tech-bound standout also won a
Division 1A Super Bowl title with the
Eagles in football this year.

senior / catcher
Andy Lalli, Coyle & Cassidy
Lalli earned MVP honors in the
Eastern Athletic Conference with a
.633 average, 4 home runs, and 44
RBIs. Lalli was also captain of the
hockey team and an honor roll student.
He will play baseball at Central
Connecticut State next year.

senior / pitcher
Ben O'Shea, Reading
OShea set a school record for strikeouts
with 91 this season and also
posted a 9-0 record with a 0.68 ERA.
He led the Rockets to the Middlesex
League championship, earning MVP
honors along the way. He will attend
Roger Williams in the fall.

senior / shortstop
Justin Quinn, Lincoln-Sudbury
Quinn was MVP and won the batting
title in the Dual County League
Large, batting .488 with five home
runs. The four-year starter finished
his career with a .386 average and 20
home runs. He will attend Rollins
College in the fall.

Sean Ryan, Norton
Ryan was MVP of the Tri-Valley
League, batting .500 with 4 home
runs and 22 RBIs. He led Norton to
an 18-5 record and a spot in the
Division 3 South semifinals. He was
also the Globes Division 3 Player of
the Year in football.

senior / pitcher, first base
Kevin Singer, North Reading
Singer was Cape Ann League Small
player of the year and set a school
record with 34 RBIs this season. He
batted .465 in 2009 and finished with
a 15-4 career pitching record. The
two-time CAL all-star will attend
Northeastern in the fall.

senior / first base
Tim Wheeler, Central Catholic
Wheelers .547 average led the Merrimack
Valley Conference Large and
earned him MVP honors. He led his
team in every offensive category, and
will play for Rhode Island next year.
Wheeler also was a three-year starter
on his schools basketball team.
