The Relays
Weston
![]() |
To win a Division 2 state title and not have any individual event winners, you have to be getting some great performances out of your relay team. That's exactly what the Wildcats got from this group despite the fact that they have only one senior. The group of five combined to win the 200-meter freestyle relay in a time of 1:27.59, finish second in the 200 medley relay, and win the 400 freestyle relay with a time of 3:13.74, despite having two sophomores (Bhamla and Wetmore), two juniors (Frankel and Svensson) and a lone senior (Kelly). Their time in the 200-meter freestyle relay was second fastest in state history to help Weston to their 15th state championship in 32 years. Kelly, Wetmore, and Svensson also finished second through fourth in the 100-yard freestyle. The group also earned All-American consideration in the 200-freestyle relay.
BC High
![]() |
Division 1 state championships are hard to come by, but this group made sure that Reams' win in the 100 butterfly would not be the only victory they'd bring home by beating the next closest competetitor by more than three seconds with a time of 3:16.59 that was good enough to earn the group All-American consideration. Individually, Palmieri finished first at the South Sectionals and third at states in the 200 IM, as well as fifth in the 100 backstroke at states. McDonald placed sixth in the 100 freestyle and seventh in the 50 freestyle at states. Harlin finished eighth in the 50 freestyle at states and is a member of the National Honor Society. Harlin, McDonald, and Reams all swim for the South Shore YMCA Strypers, while Palmieri swims for Bernal's Gator Swim Club.
North Attleboro

You don't finish second at the South/Central sectional amd second at the Divisision 2 state meet without a strong relay team and North Attleboro had one of the best. Led by bothers Corey and Chad Swanson, North Attleboro won the sectional 200 medley race in 1:44.88 and the 400 free relay in 3:21.06. At states, North Attleboro won the 200 medley in 1:40.48, besting the time of Division 1 champion Chelmsford. North Attleboro also took second in the 400 free relay at states. Bonneau, an honor roll student, will attend Florida Southern next fall. Hedberg recently won the prestigious Intel Science Talent Search and will attend Brown.
