The snow has melted and the residents of Eastern Massachusetts have plodded through another long winter. It was a season of new champions (Reading boys' hockey), familiar faces (Barnstable gymnastics, Lowell wrestling) and a host of great individual performers, led by St. Mary's Abby Gauthier. The Globe toasts the athletes who made this winter a little less chilling and a lot more thrilling.
