Relays

200 medley

Marblehead

Division 2 Swimmer of the Year Caroline Belli (from left), Caroline Caliri, Katherine Foley, and Catherine Rafferty-Millett finished ahead of Wayland in the North sectionals, winning in 1:52.15, then outswam Longmeadow in the Division 2 state championship, winning in 1:52.04. They also finished just behind Lincoln-Sudbury in the 400 freestyle relays at the sectionals. Foley, a freshman, will be back with a revamped 200 medley team next season as her three Northeastern Conference champion teammates are seniors. Belli will attend Maryland. Rafferty- Millett and Caliri haven’t decided which college they will attend.
200 freestyle

Wayland

A sisterly bond was one reason Wayland’s team was successful. It didn’t hurt that two members of the relay team are sisters. Senior Priscilla Wright (second from right) and sophomore Emily Wright (left) joined with freshmen Michelle Cunningham (far right) and Emily Downs (second from left) to form a dynamic group that swam to first-place finishes in the 200 at the North sectionals and the Division 2 state championships. They were second in the 200 medley relay at the sectionals and second at the state championships in the 400 freestyle relay. Priscilla Wright will swim at Union College.
400 freestyle

Barnstable

Sophomore Anna Cavanaugh (from left), senior Elisabeth Wareham, junior Casey Ostrander, and senior Lindsay Baldini were a formidable force. They broke a South sectionals record, winning in a school-record 3:38.74. They also captured first place at the Division 1 state championship, winning in 3:40.76, well ahead of North Andover, which came in second in 3:44.38.
