Runner of the Year

senior / 55 meters

Christina Muccio, Andover

Muccio wasn’t merely a force in the 55-meter dash this season, she also was part of a talented relay team that helped the Golden Warriors capture two Division 1 titles. The senior won the All-State event in the 55 in 7.24 seconds, as well as the Division 1 and State Coaches titles.

Coaches of the Year

Division 1

Peter Comeau, Andover

Comeau led Andover to a state title after going 7-0 in the Merrimack Valley Conference. His emphasis on relays had an impact at the All-State meet, which his team rallied to win after entering the relay events trailing by 2 points.
Division 2

Peter Dennechuk, Westford Academy

Dennechuk led his team to a 5-3 mark in the competitive Dual County League. Six years ago, Westford finished 0-8. But Dennechuk turned the program around, and Westford now has the ability to compete with its division rivals.
Division 3

Stephen Schlicting, Hingham

Last year’s MSTCA Indoor Coach of the Year and Globe Outdoor Coach of the Year, Schlicting enhanced his impressive resume this season. Hingham went 8-0 to win the Patriot League, and won the 1,000, 4 x 200, and 4 x 800 at the Division 3 meet.
Division 4

Derek Dorval, North Reading

Dorval led his team to a 7-2-1 dual meet record. The BU alum’s team won the Cape Ann League’s meet and was second at the Division 4 meet. Dorval credited his sprinters and also praised the supporting cast for his team’s success.

All-Scholastics

junior / Shot put

Emmaline Berg, Holliston

Berg had a strong showing at the All-State final, winning by more than 3 feet with a throw of 41 feet 8æ inches. In addition to her state title, Berg captured the Division 3 crown with an impressive heave of 41-2Æ. She was ranked 23d in the nation.
junior / mile

Bridget Dahlberg, Newton South

Dahlberg won the All-State title in the mile the past two seasons, this year winning in 5:01.76. The junior, whose hobbies include competitive four square, also had first-place finishes in the Division 1 and State Coaches’ meets.
junior / 55 hurdles

Meghan Ferreira, Mansfield

Ferreira dominated the Hockomock League this season, winning the league’s MVP award and the Division 2 title. The junior also took home the state title, finishing in 8.36 seconds at the All-State meet, comfortably ahead of her competition.
senior / 300 meters

Christina Izzicupo, Stoneham

Izzicupo went wire-to-wire, dominating the 300 all season long. The senior won the event at the All-State meet, adding to a trophy haul that included the Division 3 crown and a first-place finish at the state coaches’ meet.
junior / 2 mile

Kelsey Karys, Newton South

A DCL all-star and three-time Globe All-Scholastic, Karys did not disappoint in her junior year. She finished second at the All-State meet, first at the Coaches’ Invitational with a time of 10:48.73, and seventh at the national indoor meet.
senior / 600 meters

Meghan Looney, Bishop Feehan

Looney dominated the 600 throughout her high school career, winning the All-State title twice and the Division 3 title three times. The Harvardbound senior was Runner of the Meet at this year’s Coaches’ Invitational (personal best run of 1:33.61).
senior / 1,000 meters

Emily Mepham, Lincoln-Sudbury

A member of L-S’s record-setting relay team, Mepham is a force in the 1,000 as well. The two-time All- American won the state and the Division 1 title in the event. The Brown-bound senior holds the school record in the 1,000 (2:53.09).
junior / high jump

Hanna Muir, Wellesley

Muir dominated the big competitions this year, finishing first in the high jump at the New England Championship, the All-State meet, and the Division 3 meet. The talented junior set an impressive personal best with a jump of 5 feet 7 inches.
senior / pentathlon

Antoinette Toussaint, Somerville

Toussaint dominated the event this season, finishing first in the state with 3,165 points. The senior also had a strong showing nationwide, finishing 10th at the National Scholastic Indoor Championship with 3,090 points.
senior / long jump

Krista Woodward, Winchester

AMiddlesex League All-Star, Woodward took home the All-State long jump title with a leap of 17 feet 6 inches and holds the school record in the event. The senior also won the Division 3 event and finished seventh at the New England meet.

4x200 meters

North Attleboro

(From left) Kristen McLoughlin, Julieanne Cappadona, Kathryn Flannery, and Lauren Goldberg can hold their heads high after their performances for North Attleboro this season. The 4 x 200 relay runners broke their school’s record by three seconds, captured the All-State title, and finished first at the Coaches’ Invitational. Their success earned them a trip to the National Scholastic Meet in New York City.
4x400 meters

Lincoln-Sudbury

The close-knit Lincoln-Sudbury relay team, featuring (from left) Molly Binder and Emily Mepham, junior Jessica Griffin, and senior Dana Jamieson, dominated every event in which it competed this season. Its campaign was capped by a victory in the 4 x 400 at the All-State meet in February. In that event the team set a meet record, finishing in 3:59.69.
4x800 meters

Newton South

The Newton South girls’ 4 x 800 relay team capped its season with its most impressive victory, defeating powerhouse Lincoln-Sudbury at the All-State meet by 6 seconds, winning in a meet-record 9:23.67. (From left) Diana Braver, Juliet Ryan-Davis, Julia Frieze, and Bridget Dahlberg also had a strong showing in the Division 1 meet, finishing second in 9:32.70.
