Catholic Memorial celebrates its Super 8 victory on the Garden ice.

Greg Crovo, Malden Catholic
The rock at the heart of the Malden
Catholic defense, Crovo is making his
second appearance on the All-Scholastic
team. Crovo chipped in a goal
and 12 assists this season, and
earned Catholic Conference MVP
honors.

senior / defenseman
Brian Hanafin, Burlington
Registering 12 goals, a high total for a
defenseman, and adding 12 assists,
Hanafin earned Middlesex League
All-Star honors and led his team to
the Super 8 final. Hanafin registered
more than half of his career points
this winter.

junior / forward
Derek Colucci, Catholic Memorial
Colucci led the Super 8 champs in
points with 25 before breaking his
jaw in the opening game of the postseason.
He had surgery four days
before the final but played in it,
scoring a goal and adding an assist
against Burlington.

junior / forward
Mike Seward, Winchester
The Middlesex Leagues most dangerous
scorer also won league MVP
honors. Despite missing seven games
because of injury, Seward notched 21
goals and 16 assists during the regular
season, and added five goals and
an assist in Super 8 play.

senior / defenseman
Garrett Noonan, Catholic Memorial
Noonan, who tied fellow All-Scholastic
Derek Colucci for the team lead
with 25 points, was named Co-MVP
of the Catholic Conference. Noonan
was one of the most physical players
in the state. He plans to continue his
career in juniors or prep school.

senior / goalie
Jeff Wyer, Reading
Coming off a Super 8 title as a junior,
Wyer had another outstanding season
as a senior, finishing with a .932
save percentage and a 1.50 goals against.
Wyer plans to play junior
hockey until enrolling at the University
of New Hampshire in 2011.
Coaches of the Year

division 1A
Bob Conceison, Burlington
The Devils made it to the Super 8
final before Catholic Memorial ended
their playoff run. Burlington went
17-2-1 in the regular season and won
the Middlesex League title. Conceison
is 270-149-48 in 22 years behind
the bench.

division 1
Mark Jones, Bridgewater-Raynham
Jones led the Trojans to their fourth
Old Colony League title under his
tutelage and their sixth tournament
appearance in the past seven years,
an impressive feat for a team that had
never made a tournament in 25 years
prior to Joness arrival.

division 2
Paul Yameen, Newburyport
Yameen led the Clippers to their first
state title and an 18-4-4 season. The
Salem State graduate has a 74-49-12
record in his six seasons at the helm
in Newburyport. The Clippers beat
several of the states top Division 2
squads, including top seed Winthrop.

division 3
Chuck Baker, Shawsheen
Baker led an emotional and talented
squad to its first North Sectional title.
In his 10th season coaching, third as
the head man, the Rams went 18-6-3
and fell just short of a Division 3 state
title, losing, 3-2, to Shrewsbury at TD
Banknorth Garden.
All-Scholastics

senior / goalie
Robby Campbell, Braintree
Posting a 16-6-1 record with four
shutouts and a 1.90 GAA, Cambell
dominated in Division 1 and was
named the Bay State Conferences
Goalie of the Year. The Wamps lost in
the South final but Campbells postseason
included two shutouts.

senior / forward
Michael DeRosa, Shawsheen
After winning the Commmonwealth
Conferences MVP award, the 6-
foot-2-inch, 220-pound DeRosa led
his team to an EMass championship.
The team captain finished the year
with 19 goals and 19 assists, and his
career with 101 points.

senior / goalie
Nate Eagan, Hingham
With four shutouts and a 1.52 goalsagainst
average, Eagan led the Harbormen
(16-4-5) to the Super 8.
Though his team did not advance to
the semifinals, Eagan made 20 stops
in each of three tournament games,
including a 3-1 win over Winchester.

junior / defenseman
Michael Holland, Central Catholic
Holland was a defensive leader on a
team that had an unbeaten regular
season en route to a Super 8 berth.
The Merrimack Valley All-Conference
performer had eight goals and 10
assists for the Raiders, who finished
16-2-7.

Sam Kane, Needham
A scoring threat on Needhams top
line all season, Kane posted 17 goals
and 24 assists as the Rockets went
19-5-1 and earned the No. 2 seed in
the Super 8 tournament. Kane was
named a Bay State Conference All-
Star.

Cameron Kelley, Arlington Catholic
Posting a 1.84 GAA and three shutouts,
Kelley earned Goalie of the Year
and MVP honors in the Catholic
Central League as AC won the Division
1 North title. He is captain of the
Cougars tennis team in the spring
and plays summer baseball.

Mike Messuri, Winchester
The Sachems rode their hot goaltender
all the way to the Super 8 semifinals.
Messuri led the Middlesex
League with a 1.21 goals-against
average and earned a 1.60 GAA in
Super 8 play. Messuri also plays golf
and lacrosse.

senior / forward
Bryan Rooney, Canton
With 25 goals and 25 assists this
winter, the Hockomock League MVP
finished with more than 100 points
in his high school career. Rooney,
who led his team to the Division 2
state final, will play junior hockey or
attend prep school this year.

Ryan Sifferlen, North Andover
A three-time Cape Ann League All-
Star, Sifferlen also was named league
MVP this winter. The 6-foot-1-inch
center, who also plays soccer and
baseball, tallied 27 goals and 24
assists. He finished his career with 93
goals and 173 points.

Andrew White, Xaverian
The captain notched 18 points this
season, including six goals, to make
the Catholic Conference All-Star
team for the third consecutive year
and the All-Scholastic team for a
second time. More hockey, and premed
studies, are in his future.
