Runner of the Year

junior / 55 meters

Molly O'Dea, Hingham

O’Dea was just too fast this season, taking first in the 55 at the New England championships, All-States (7.28), and Division 3 (7.28). O’Dea is the only female Hingham track athlete to win three straight titles in the same season.

Coaches of the Year

division 1

Michael Meagher, Boston Latin

In only his fourth year at Boston Latin, Meagher led the Wolfpack to a fourth-place finish at the Division 1 state meet, a 10th-place finish at the All-State meet, and an eighth-place finish at the New England Championship meet.
division 2

Derek Ellis, Mansfield

Ellis’s squad went 8-0 in the Hockomock League. The North Attleboro graduate coached the Hornets to a Division 2 state relay title, Division 2 state title, and a share of first place with DCL power Newton South in the All-State meet.
division 3

Brian Hall, Hopkinton

Hall has compiled a 51-1-1 record in three years at Hopkinton. He led the Hillers to a 7-0 record in dual meets, winning the Tri-Valley League and Division 3 relay titles. Hopkinton was runner-up at the Division 3 state meet.
division 4

Gregory Zopatti, Pembroke

Under Zopatti, Pembroke went 9-1 in the Patriot League and captured the Fisher Division championship. Zopatti also led his squad to a runnerup finish at the Division 4 state meet. Zopatti was named Coach of the Year in 2008 in the outdoors.

All-Scholastics

senior / 600

Courtney Baldwin, Lowell

Baldwin finished first in the Division 1 meet, winning in 1:36.36, and was the runner-up at the All-State meet. Baldwin also holds school records in the 600 yards, and 600-, 800-, and 1,000-meter races. She will attend UMass-Amherst this fall.
senior / shot put

Emmaline Berg, Holliston

Headed to Dartmouth this fall, Berg collected many accolades this winter, winning the Elite Coaches Invitational, Tri-Valley League Champion, Division 3, and New England titles. Berg also finished third at the Nike Indoor National meet (42-2OE).
junior / 300

Meisha Brooks, Boston Latin

Brooks finished first at the New England championship meet in 40.46 seconds. She also took first at the Division 1 state meet in 40.68 and was fourth at the All-State meet. A Dual County League All-Star, she is also an honor roll student.
sophomore / 300

Emily Broyles, Mansfield

Broyles set a school record in the 300 meters (40.46). She also won the Hockomock League title and captured Division 2 state and All-State crowns. Broyles helped lead Mansfield to a share of the All-State title and she was fifth at New Englands.
senior / mile

Bridget Dahlberg, Newton South

Dahlberg won the Division 1 state meet (4:58.37) and All-State meet (4:56.16). She anchored the Lions’ 4x800 team that placed second in the Nike Indoor National meet in 8:58.63, the fastest time in New England history.
junior / mile

Jenna Davidner, Oliver Ames

Davidner cracked the 5-minute barrier in the mile when it counted most, capturing the New England Championship in 4:59. Davidner also went undefeated in the Hockomock League and finished second at the All-State meet.
senior / 55 hurdles

Meghan Ferreira, Mansfield

Ferreira wrapped up her senior year by winning the Hockomock, Division 3, and All-State titles. Ferreira, headed to Harvard this fall, also placed third at the New England Championship meet. Led by Ferreira, Mansfield won a share of the All-State title.
junior / long jump

Deanna Latham, Triton

Latham was quite successful on the long jump runway this season. She won the State Coaches meet with a leap of 18 feet 3 1/2 inches. Latham also captured the Division 3 title (18-3) and the All-State meet (18-2 1/2).
senior / shot put

Nalis Mbianda, Newton South

Mbianda won the Division 1 state championship (39-11OE) and also the All-State title with a put of 41-9. The Dual County League All-Star holds the school record in the shot put (41-9) and has broken the mark five times in her high school career.
senior / 1,000

Camille Murphy, Framingham

Murphy, a Bay State League All-Star and team MVP, won the Division 1 state title and the All-State title (2:51.99). Murphy finished fourth in the mile in the Nike Indoor National meet in 4:52.9, her first race at that distance this season.
senior / high jump

Laura Weeks, Oliver Ames

Weeks won the Division 3 state and All-State titles with a jump of 5 feet 6 inches. Weeks, the Hockomock League champion and All-Star, also finished second at the New England Championship meet. She will attend Bryant University this fall.
