Krissy Cannon scored on the game's final play as King Philip's field hockey team kept pace in the race for first place in the Hockomock League with a 2-1 victory over Oliver Ames yesterday.
"My team knew they should win and the win proved their determination to win the league title," said Warriors coach Liz Hathaway.
King Philip (9-1-3) is chasing Canton (11-2-1) for the league title with one week to play. The Warriors have three games remaining; Canton has two.
King Philip scored a minute into the second half, Megan Read converting a penalty corner taken by Allie Lomp. But Oliver Ames tied the game nine minutes later.
The Warriors (21 penalty corners, 15 shots) dominated.
Cape Ann: Jen Bishop scored in the last minute, assisted by Amelia Burke, as Manchester Essex tied Georgetown, 1-1.
Patriot: Sam Fullon's two goals led Middleboro to a 3-0 victory over Pembroke.
