Newton South remained undefeated in girls’ volleyball on the strength of top-notch serving in a 3-0 victory over Cambridge last night.

“Most of our girls are at the jump-serve level and they’re the best level of serving I’ve seen,’’ said Newton South coach Todd Elwell, whose squad is 6-0. “This is the best start we’ve had in a decade.’’

Newton South’s start wasn’t that good last night, with Cambridge jumping out to a 7-3 lead, but Lions’ senior Ally Leipzig struck back with five aces and three kills to get Newton South flying.

“Experience is our strongpoint and the actual volleyball IQ of these kids is incredible,’’ said Elwell.
