Walpole field hockey coach Marianne Murphy has a simple goal every season: Win the Bay State League title and worry about everything else later.

Yesterday’s 6-0 rout of rival Dedham helped the Porkers take another step toward that goal. Walpole dominated from start to finish, outshooting the Marauders, 23-4.

“Our first goal is to the win the Bay State League and from there, take the tournament one game at a time,’’ said Murphy. “There are some quality teams out there so no game will be an easy task. Any given day someone can have an off game.’’

Walpole wasn’t off on any facet yesterday.

Caroline Malone and Kelly Burke each scored twice and Hannah Rockwood and Kate Kelley combined for the shutout as the Porkers improved to 8-0-2, 8-0-1 in the Bay State. Dedham dropped to 2-7.

“In the past, [Dedham] has been one of our toughest competitors,’’ Murphy said. “They all did their job today. It was a good team win.’’

Malone, a junior center forward, got Walpole started, scoring the first two goals, with Jenn Walsh assisting on the first and Shelby Guisti the second. Burke and Walsh added goals before halftime, giving the Porkers the 4-0 lead at intermission. Rockwood barely worked up a sweat, not facing a single shot.
