Bishop Fenwick rallied in the second half to defeat Tewksbury, 3-1, in the first round of the MIAA North Division 2 field hockey tournament at Peabody

After a scoreless first half, Ali Greene connected for the Lady Redmen, taking a 1-0 lead with four minutes gone in the second half.

“I called the timeout after the first goal because I thought the girls were beginning to play a little panicked,’’ said Bishop Fenwick coach Marybeth Mahoney. “I just wanted to calm them down and remind them that there was plenty of time left in the game.’’

It worked. The Crusaders and regained their composure, and in the 16th minute Kristen O’Connell scored the tying goal. Kelly Moran scored the winner with just over five minutes remaining and added one more with just over two minutes to go.

Bishop Fenwick advances to face Manchester Essex, the No. 1 seed in the bracket, which comes into the tournament with an undefeated record (17-0-1).

Marblehead 1, Melrose 0 - Blake Bernier scored in the first half. Marblehead will face Belmont tomorrow.

MIAA North Division 1

Masconomet 3, Danvers 0 - Julie Galvin opened up the scoring with a diving hit. Pam Herter chipped in two in the second half, both off assists from Rachel Rudder.

Lincoln-Sudbury 2, Needham 0 - Megan Maley scored both goals.

MIAA South Division 1

Franklin 2, Silver Lake 1 - Freshman forward Hannah Magerman scored the unassisted winning goal for the Panthers 9:51 into the second half.

Barnstable 1, King Philip 0 - Barnstable (10-4-4) senior Meredith Bancroft scored with just under nine minutes left to advance to a contest against Mansfield (14-1-3).

Hingham 1, Marshfield 0 - Molly Clark scored three minutes into overtime.

Boys’ soccer
Lynnfield 1, Malden 0 - Marco Addonizio scored the winning goal with an assist from Craig Martin.

Somerville 6, Newton North 0 - Homero Morais tallied two goals and two assists.

Northfield Mt. Hermon 3, Suffield 1 - Northfield Mt. Hermon’s Kade Halyard scored one of his team’s goals on a diving header.

Tabor 2, Pomfret 1 - Tim Shea scored both of Tabor’s goals.

Girls’ soccer
Worcester Academy 2, Tabor 0 - Zoe Eth scored the last goal for Worcester Academy.

Brooks 4, BB&N 1 - Abby Hammerl scored three goals for Brooks, and sister Amelia scored the fourth.

Shawsheen 3, Greater Lowell 0 - Freshman Arianna Medeiros scored a goal and assisted on another.

Wilbraham & Monson 4, Cushing 0 - Junior Brittany Barry scored all four goals.
