Boston.com has new section for city’s top student-athletes
Boston.com announced the launch of a new section Wednesday devoted to “Boston Public Schools Sports.” The online section will focus on the top student-athletes in the city and include game coverage, statistics, and feature stories. Sponsored by Suffolk Construction Company to raise awareness for its Boston Scholar Athlete program, the section will start this fall with coverage of soccer, football, cross-country, and volleyball.
“We’ve developed a new online section that is clear and simple for readers to navigate so we can more prominently feature all of the unbelievable athletic talent in our city,” said sports editor Joe Sullivan. “The Globe and Boston.com sports staff covers these athletes year after year, often getting the opportunity to see them grow and develop, and now we can share this story line more closely with readers.”
The “Boston Public Schools Sports” page features stories, photos, and video from The Boston Globe and Boston.com award-winning sports staff. Northeastern University graduate Justin Rice and Lasell College senior Mary Pavlu will chronicle the best games, stories, and athletes in the city. Ralph Cooper will provide statistics and Stan Litchman and his staff will handle photography.
And it doesn’t end with high school athletics. Middle school sports are also highlighted, showcasing the athletic talent in Boston from youth through adolescence. Former Burke basketball star Brandy Cruthird will also contribute a regular column, focusing on health and fitness.
This Sunday be sure to check our team-by-team preview of the city soccer and volleyball seasons.
