Mandy Carter-Zegarowski is stepping down as coach at Ipswich High School, according to athletic director Tom Gallagher. Carter-Zegarowski is the mother of Syracuse University basketball player Michael Carter-Williams. The Tigers (17-4) made it to the Division 3 North semifinals this season, but lost to Pentucket, 46-26. A little over two weeks later, while in California to watch her son advance to the Sweet 16, her family’s home in Hamilton caught fire and was destroyed along with all of their belongings. Carter-Zegarowski coached 10 seasons at Ipswich, earning seven Cape Ann small league titles. Her daughter, Masey, is a sophomore guard on the girls’ basketball team.
