John Carlson sent a sweeping curveball into the dirt, and Stoughton designated hitter Kaleb Ballou flailed at the 1-and-2 offering. Carlson looked on as catcher David Hutchins blocked the pitch and fired to first base, sealing the southpaw’s gutty performance.
After 135 pitches, Carlson raised his arms into the air and was mobbed by his teammates, as he led Hingham to a 7-4 victory in the Division 2 South final Sunday at Campanelli Stadium in Brockton.
