Tyler Carey was positioned to be the hero for Bridgewater-Raynham Sunday night. His go-ahead single with two out in the eighth inning was the difference as BC High threatened in the top of the ninth.
And when Eagles senior captain Ryan Tufts, a Bridgewater resident, launched a long fly ball to center that seemed destined to give BC High the lead with two runners on base, Carey left no doubt: He was indeed the hero.
The speedy junior center fielder got under it for the second out, then alertly threw to the infield to double Dan Dougherty off second to end the game, giving the Trojans the 4-3 win and the Division 1 South sectional title, their first since 2003. Full story for BostonGlobe.com subscribers.
