In one of the last high school baseball games of the 2013 season, the Connecticut senior All-Star team defeated Massachusetts’ squad 2-1 at Tufts University’s Huskins Field.
The home field advantage was not enough for Massachusetts to win Saturday’s pitching duel in coach Pete Moscariello’s last game before retirement.
The Reading skipper coached the Massachusetts All-Stars with his entire Rockets staff. Going out with a loss didn’t bring Moscariello down in the least.
“I really appreciated the opportunity . . . it was really special. [North Reading’s] Frank Carey is the one who called me and it was very thoughtful and kind. It was a nice way to end my career,” said Moscariello. Full story for BostonGlobe.com subscribers.
