In his first career start at quarterback, as the pocket began to squeeze in around him, Kristian Lucashensky was unflappable.
With Barnstable facing a 13-point deficit at BC High, the senior shined. Lucashensky threw for 109 yards and a pair of touchdowns in the second half to lift the Red Raiders past the No. 18 Eagles, 20-13, at Viola Stadium on Friday night.
“You start out a little nervous of course,” said Lucashensky. “Nerves get to you and you get the butterflies, but once you complete that first pass . . . all the nerves go away.”
On the first play of the game, BC High’s Ismail Asongwed received the kickoff a step in his own end zone and ran it back 101 yards for a touchdown. Just 13 seconds into the game, BC High led, 7-0.
