Plymouth North defeats Hingham in baseball, 7-3

Sophomore shortstop Colin Nicklas drove in three runs and ace Brian Christian failed to allow an earned run in 6⅓ innings of work Wednesday night as the Eagles defeated the reigning Division 2 champion Hingham, 7-3.

It was the Harbormen who dispatched the Eagles last spring, 5-4, in the Division 2 South quarterfinals.

“I told them I thought we had the best pitcher in state on mound — relax and just make plays,” said Plymouth North coach Dwayne Follette, in his 20th season with the Eagles. “We didn’t early.”

Some potential first-game jitters cost Plymouth North out of the gate as the Harbormen (0-1) scored an unearned run in the top of the first.
