Malden Catholic senior Shawn Kelly threw a one-hit shutout to lead his team to a 5-0 victory over rival Catholic Memorial.
MC has a 3-2 record and a share of first place in the Catholic Conference.
"I told the guys at the beginning of the week that if we could tough it out and win two games we can go from last in the league to first," said Malden Catholic coach Steve Freker.
Kelly struck out six and walked just three, dropping his season ERA to a minuscule 0.48.
"Shawn's a big strong kid who mixed it up well today, he had a good curve and a change working," said Freker.
Sophomore catcher Paul Yanakopulos had the best day at the plate for the Lancers, going 3 for 3 with two RBIs.
"It's a good time of the year to start getting great pitching performances," said Freker, whose team three-hit Eastern Mass No. 1 St. John's Prep earlier in the week. "The state tournament is just around the corner."
Westford 3, Acton-Boxboro 0 - Westford senior Peter Lynch went the distance on the mound allowing just two hits while striking out five and walking none for the shutout.
Wayland 5, Arlington 1 - Junior pitcher Ian Bonner pitched a complete game, and had four hits, including a home run, to lead Wayland.
BC High 8, Xaverian 3 - Senior Tyler Horan was 2 for 3 and John Micciche had three RBIs to lead the Eagles.
Weston 5, Bedford 2 - Sahil Bloom (3-0) struck out 11 and went 2 for 2 with two RBIs for Weston.
Belmont 1, Lexington 0 - Steven Amrein pitched allowed only 4 hits and struck out six for Belmont.
Newton South 10, Boston Latin 2 - Nick Chen and Will Allen homered to power the Lions.
Brookline 3, Newton North 2 - Andrew Gummow hit a three-run double with two outs in the ninth, rallying the Warriors (6-5) past the Tigers.

Westwood 10, Holliston 4 - John Sementelli blasted a three-run homer and the Wolverines (9-2) rolled past the Panthers.
Dracut 3, Lowell 2 - Casey Sweeney struck out five, allowed one earned run, and had an RBI single to win in the eighth inning for Dracut.
Lynn English 3, Saugus 2 - Jonathan Surette got the win by pitching three-hit ball for six innings, with five strikeouts. Surette also had an RBI single. Anthony Ortiz hit a two-run homer in the second to account for the other runs for the Bulldogs (8-1).
North Attleboro 7, Mansfield 3 - Mike Ferguson allowed two hits and struck out 11 over six innings to pick up the win for the Red Rocketeers.
Marshfield 5, Dennis-Yarmouth 3 - Phil Whitaker pitched a complete game for Marshfield with one earned run and only four hits.
Natick 7, Dedham 4 - Junior shortstop Matt Sefton had three hits and two RBIs for Natick.
Falmouth 7, Nauset 1 - Falmouth's (5-5, 4-1) Dustin Brown hit a pair of homers to put the game of reach for Nauset. Bob Whelan pitched a complete game with seven strikeouts and three hits.
Weymouth 7, Needham 2 - Weymouth's Cam Macdonald struck out six batters and pitched a complete game.
Norton 6, Hopkinton 4 - Pitcher Eddie Hannon hit a home run, had two RBIs, and picked up the win for Norton.
Wellesley 4, Norwood 3 - Jeremy Hartman went 3 for 4 and scored the winning run in the bottom of the seventh on an error. Chris Mele went 3 for 5 with two RBIs.
Dighton-Rehoboth 11, Old Rochester 5 - Senior Sam Duford had four hits and three RBIs to pace the Falcons.
Peabody 8, Danvers 6 - Andrew Bucci went 3 for 3 with a run scored and Jared Shields went 2 for 4 and picked up the save for Peabody.
Winthrop 6, Salem 5 - Nick McCarthy provided the dramatics for the Vikings, hitting a walkoff home run in the eighth.
Sandwich 18, Plymouth South 6 - Sean Sullivan had two hits and two RBIs and scored a run in a losing effort for the Panthers.
Scituate 8, Hanover 3 - Casey Burns had six strikeouts and David Podurgiel went 3 for 4 with three RBIs to lead Scituate.
Silver Lake 5, Pembroke 1 - Silver Lakes Zach Smith pitched a complete game, striking out 13, including the last five.
Franklin 5, Stoughton 0 - Franklin senior Andrew Finemore threw a complete game one-hitter with 12 strikeouts and no walks to improve to 1-1.
Trinity Catholic 13, Cathedral 3 - Senior pitcher Marc Ledger threw a complete game, striking out 10 to improve his record to 2-0.
Concord-Carlisle 9, Tyngsboro 5 - Victor Barbosa went 3 for 4 with an RBI and Brad MacHaffie struck out 10 in six innings of work, lifting the Patriots past the Tigers.
Wakefield 5, Reading 0 - Senior Ben Tomsyck struck out seven for Wakefield.
Walpole 4, Milton 1 - Lefthander Tom Ryan spun a gem for the Rebels, striking out nine in a complete-game effort.
Lincoln-Sudbury 4, Waltham 0 - Derek Lowe dominated on the mound, striking out nine, and allowing only one hit to pick up his third win of the season. Mike Baranowsky went 3 for 3 and drove in two runs.
Melrose 5, Watertown 0 - Senior Paul Capaldo threw a five-hit shutout, striking out eight to lead Melrose.
North Quincy 2, Whitman-Hanson 1 - Senior pitcher Joe Edgerly surrendered one run in 6 innings, striking out two.
Winchester 11, Burlington 10 - The Sachems' Patrick Lucas hit a two-run homer in the fifth and then won it with an RBI single in the seventh.
St. Sebastian's 10, Middlesex 5 - Back-to-back homers in the third inning from Stephen Rogers and Christian Venditti gave St. Sebastian's a 5-4 lead. Rogers, a senior, hit a grand slam, which helped St. Sebastian's recover from a 4-0 deficit.
Brighton 9, East Boston 3 - Brighton's David Marte struck out 10 and outfielder Lorenzo Cruz had six RBIs with two doubles and two singles.
St. Mary's 9, Archbishop Williams 6 - Alex Fifty (3 for 4, 3 RBIs) singled in the top of the seventh to break a 6-6 tie, and belted a two-run homer for St. Mary's.
Nobles 8, St. George's 1 - Senior pitcher Ben Knott allowed four hits and struck out seven for Nobles.
Thayer 5, BB&N 0 - Kyle McKenzie tossed seven innings of 3-hit ball, striking out 10. He also doubled and had an RBI for Thayer.

North Shore 14, Lynn Tech 11 - North Shore scored seven times in the top of the seventh to pull out a victory against Lynn Tech. Cameron White and Derek Frazier each had three hits and two RBIs while Joel D'Ambrosio had three hits and three RBIs for North Shore.
Arlington Catholic 12, Austin Prep 2 - Senior Catie Milliken scored four goals for Arlington Catholic. Senior Nicole Sullivan and junior Julie Caccabaro each contributed two goals and one assist.
Mansfield 20, Canton 8 - Kristen Tulejah contributed four goals and an assist and teammate Lissy Doherty had 14 saves for Mansfield.
Framingham 15, Newton North 1 - Sophomore midfielder Rachel Igoe scored five Framingham (11-2) goals and assisted in another.

Newton North 28, Brookline 7 - Newton North powered past Brookline behind Annie Staulo, Leanne Precopio, and Ali Pappas. Staulo had four RBIs, Precopio blasted a home run and had four RBIs, and Pappas scored three times and knocked in three runs.
Mansfield 8, North Attleboro 4 - Kelly English and Erin Keogh each had a pair of hits and a pair of RBIs for Mansfield (8-3, 6-2) in the Hockomock League matchup.

Norwood 6, Wellesley 5 - Natalie Metta's single to right scored the winning run for Norwood. Trailing by a run in the seventh inning, Alex Dukas singled, was sacrificed to second by Katie Lang, and Lauren Duggan singled to tie the score, which preceded Metta's winning hit.

Methuen 5, Billerica 0 - Freshman Joe Perrone won his first singles, 6-2, 6-2, and junior teammate John Erickson won, 6-0, 6-0, to pace Methuen's shutout.
