Malden Catholic senior Shawn Kelly threw a one-hit shutout to lead his team to a 5-0 victory over rival Catholic Memorial.
MC has a 3-2 record and a share of first place in the Catholic Conference.
"I told the guys at the beginning of the week that if we could tough it out and win two games we can go from last in the league to first," said Malden Catholic coach Steve Freker.
Kelly struck out six and walked just three, dropping his season ERA to a minuscule 0.48.
"Shawn's a big strong kid who mixed it up well today, he had a good curve and a change working," said Freker.
Sophomore catcher Paul Yanakopulos had the best day at the plate for the Lancers, going 3 for 3 with two RBIs.
"It's a good time of the year to start getting great pitching performances," said Freker, whose team three-hit Eastern Mass No. 1 St. John's Prep earlier in the week. "The state tournament is just around the corner."
Westford 3, Acton-Boxboro 0 - Westford senior Peter Lynch went the distance on the mound allowing just two hits while striking out five and walking none for the shutout.
Wayland 5, Arlington 1 - Junior pitcher Ian Bonner pitched a complete game, and had four hits, including a home run, to lead Wayland.
BC High 8, Xaverian 3 - Senior Tyler Horan was 2 for 3 and John Micciche had three RBIs to lead the Eagles.

Lynn English 3, Saugus 2 - Jonathan Surette got the win by pitching three-hit ball for six innings, with five strikeouts. Surette also had an RBI single. Anthony Ortiz hit a two-run homer in the second to account for the other runs for the Bulldogs (8-1).
North Attleboro 7, Mansfield 3 - Mike Ferguson allowed two hits and struck out 11 over six innings to pick up the win for the Red Rocketeers.
Marshfield 5, Dennis-Yarmouth 3 - Phil Whitaker pitched a complete game for Marshfield with one earned run and only four hits.

St. Sebastian's 10, Middlesex 5 - Back-to-back homers in the third inning from Stephen Rogers and Christian Venditti gave St. Sebastian's a 5-4 lead. Rogers, a senior, hit a grand slam, which helped St. Sebastian's recover from a 4-0 deficit.
Brighton 9, East Boston 3 - Brighton's David Marte struck out 10 and outfielder Lorenzo Cruz had six RBIs with two doubles and two singles.
