The 41st annual Boston Shootout tipped off Saturday afternoon at the Shelburne Community Center in Roxbury, featuring six premier basketball clubs.
Metro Boston got the action started as it faced Connecticut Elite in the first game of the tournament. Tied at 61 with just seconds left on the clock, Thomas Nolan became the hero as he sunk the game-winning shot, giving Connecticut Elite a 63-61 victory.
That same intensity and competitiveness died down as soon as Boston Amateur Basketball Club (BABC) stepped on the court to take on Northeast Shooters (N.Y.), as it rolled to a 72-33 triumph.
Seven minutes into the first half BABC was already on cruise mode as it led, 13-3, forcing Northeast Shooters to call a timeout. Full story for BostonGlobe.com subscribers.
