In a battle of defending state champions, top-ranked Malden Catholic skated past Wilmington in a 6-0 victory in Malden on Monday night. Despite the lopsided margin, Lancers assistant coach Pat Driscoll wouldn’t define the game as “easy.” His team put 44 shots on Wilmington senior netminder Drew Foley, who made 38 saves to keep the game reasonable.
“He made us work for every goal we had,” Driscoll praised. “He’s always been good for them. He came up big.”
Foley wasn’t the only goalie who came up big, though. Freshman Kyle Casey set the tone for the Lancers (13-3-0) despite making just 10 saves against the Wildcats (8-3-7). Full story for BostonGlobe.com subscribers.
