St. Mary's Winters scores 200th career point

St. Mary’s forward Courtney Winters is the ultimate team player.

After scoring her 200th career point on a goal in the third of the Spartans’ 4-0 win against Fontbonne Academy, the senior was quick to cede credit to her teammates.

“My team pretty much did it for me,” Winters said. “I was at the right place at the right time, just trying to get it in the back of the net.”

The point came off Winters’ second goal of the night. Coach Frank Pagliuca said Winters’ value comes not from her scoring proficiency, but from her character.

“She’s a great kid, she loves to play hockey,” Pagliuca said. “That’s the thing I love about her. Tomorrow she’ll be back with a smile at practice, ready to play and have fun.”
