Austin Prep scores early, defeats Reading 1-0 to move on
STONEHAM -- Austin Prep defeated Reading, 1-0, thanks to an early goal by Cam Russo to bury the Rockets at Stoneham Arena and advance in the Super 8 tournament.
With the victory, Austin Prep eliminated Reading in the best-of-three series iand will move on to the second round against the winner of the St. John's Prep and Central Catholic series.
Austin Prep capitalized on an earl power-play opportunity, with Russo scoring a goal on a rebound at 14:17 in the first period.
Reading had chance after chance in this game to get on the scoreboard, but AP goalie Elijah Harris refused to leave Stoneham without a victory despite having nine shots flung his way in the third period when the Rockets looked their most dangerous. The sophomore goalie held on and delivered his team a shutout night.
