STONEHAM -- Catholic Memorial gave up a lead with 28 seconds left in regulation before hitting three straight shootout attempts to beat BC High, 3-2, and force a third game in the best-of-three series to be held Sunday.

Freshman defenseman Tim Weinstein nailed the final shootout attempt to seal it for the Knights.

For the second straight game, Catholic Memorial (13-7-2) brought the intensity in the first period, taking advantage of its energy with two goals in the opening 15 minutes as BC High (15-3-4) wiped off the dust.

CM senior John Maher opened it up with a rebound goal in the 10th minute. Keeping the pressure on BC High goalie Peter Cronin, who stopped 23 of 24 shots in the first game, the Knights struck again three minutes later.

Picking up the puck in his own zone, Frank Cosolito seamed a pass up-ice that found Jack O'Hear and created a two-on-one. O'Hear set it on a tee for freshman Kevin Hock, who buried his 12th goal of the year.

BC High put it together for a strong second period, attacking goalie Brendan Collett with a barrage of shots, most coming from the outside. Jake Lemanski put BC High on the board with a rebound goal four minutes in, but the Eagles couldn't convert on an array of chances, including several on the power play, later in the second.

With desperation sinking in and less than a minute remaining in the third, BC High pulled goalie Peter Cronin to add an extra attacker. Bodies flying every which way, captain Tom Besinger sensed chaos and sent the puck from the corner across the goal mouth. The opportunistic Ryan Shea was there to slam it in and give the Eagles new life with 28 seconds to go.

Chances were plentiful on both sides in the overtime period, but neither could convert.

The Knights scored three of six in the shootout. The Eagles scored two.
