After an outstanding sophomore season which included a Super 8 title, Malden Catholic center Ara Nazarian gave a verbal commitment to play at the University of New Hampshire on Tuesday.

“I went to visit [UNH] last week and I liked the campus,” said Nazarian. “It was a perfect fit with how I play and how they play. It felt like the right choice.”

Nazarian was named a Globe All-Scholastic after he scored 26 regular season goals and added eight more in the Super 8 tournament for the Lancers.

After visiting the UNH campus last week, Nazarian took a few days to make his decision but soon it became clear that UNH was the school for him.

“I couldn’t be more happy,” he said. “They have great support for the hockey team at UNH.”

Nazarian is the fourth player from this year’s Malden Catholic team to commit to a Hockey East school including Mike Iovanna at UMass-Amherst, Tyler Siferlen at UMass-Lowell, and Casey Fitzgerald at Boston College.
