School football roundup: Barnstable is a spoiler

For the fourth straight week, the top-ranked team fell as No. 20 Barnstable took down Xaverian, 15-14, on Friday night.

Senior Dereck Pacheco nailed a 32-yard field goal with 1:36 remaining to lift the host Red Raiders (2-1) to their second straight victory.

Trailing, 14-6, midway through the fourth quarter, Barnstable pulled within 2 on a 16-yard pass from senior Kristian Lucashensky to classmate Derek Estes. The Red Raiders then fumbled the 2-point rush attempt.

The Hawks (2-1) were unable to score on the next drive and gave the ball back to Barnstable, which drove to the Xaverian 15-yard line behind a 40-yard strike from Lucashensky to senior Colby Blaze. The play set up the winning kick.
