Malden nearly let it slip away.
The Golden Tornadoes led, 27-7, at the half until Cambridge scored 20 unanswered points, including 13 in the fourth quarter, to send the game to overtime knotted up at 27.
But Ray Sainristil gave Malden the lead back with a 4-yard touchdown run and a successful 2-point conversion in overtime, and the defense kept the Falcons out of the end zone to hold on for a 35-27 win at home Saturday.
Loveng Francois’s interception at the 1-yard line sealed it for the Golden Tornadoes (4-1). Malden sacked Cambridge quarterback Marcus Collins the play before to set the Falcons back with third and goal from the 20-yard line to set up the pick.
Sainristil carried 23 times for 187 yards and three touchdowns. Full story for BostonGlobe.com subscribers.
