WESTWOOD — On a day when the Xaverian defense was dominant, it was fitting that a defensive touchdown sealed the win for the fourth-ranked Hawks. With Xaverian clinging to a 7-0 lead with less than a minute remaining in the game, Kenny Kern intercepted a deflected pass and took it 57 yards to the house as the Hawks (4-1) held on to beat No. 10 Brockton, 14-0, Saturday at the Hawk Bowl.
The Xaverian allowed just three first downs and the Boxers (2-3) were held to less than 100 yards of total offense as they were shut out for the second straight week.
“I thought our defense played really outstanding, they bailed us out today,” said Xaverian coach Charlie Stevenson. Full story for BostonGlobe.com subscribers.
