The Danvers girls’ soccer team scored on four straight penalty shots to beat host Marblehead, 2-1, in a Division 2 North first-round contest Friday afternoon.

A first-half goal gave the Magicians a 1-0 lead but Danvers senior Kylie Plaza found the back of the net off of a free kick by Cate Raftery with just five minutes left in regulation.

After two scorless periods of overtime, the game went to penalties and a coin toss gave the Magicians the opportunity to shoot first. A mishit by Marblehead’s first shooter sent the ball directly toward Falcons senior goalkeeper Leah Ciampa, who easily gathered up the ball for the save. Delaney Zecha, Nicole Belanger, Courtney Arnoldy, and Emily Murphy scored in the shootout for Danvers.
